Kalki 2898 AD: Deepika Padukone Shows Extraordinary Commitment by Filming Climax Scene While Pregnant

In a revelation that has taken both the film industry and fans by surprise, actress Deepika Padukone showed an exceptional level of commitment and professionalism while shooting for the highly anticipated film “Kalki 2898 AD.” Deepika, who portrays the character Sumati, was pregnant with her first baby during the filming of one of the most physically demanding scenes of the movie. This revelation came from her co-star Saswata Chatterjee, who plays Commander Manas in the film.

Saswata Chatterjee, in an exclusive interview with News 18, shared the remarkable details of the filming. It turns out that during the movie’s climax scene, which involves an intense physical altercation, Deepika Padukone’s condition posed additional challenges. The scene, depicting Commander Manas dragging Sumati away by pulling her, was one of the final parts of the shoot and took place in Mumbai, adjusted especially due to Deepika’s pregnancy.

“Deepika is just ever-smiling,” Saswata shared with a mix of admiration and awe. “There is a scene in the film where I drag her by the hair. It was part of the last leg of the shoot and was shot in Mumbai because Deepika was pregnant by then. There was a lot of physical tussle in the scene, so I told Ranveer, ‘Don’t worry, for more physically challenging scenes, there’s a body double.’ He was so polite and humble. He smiled and said, ‘I know, Dada.’”

Ranveer Singh, Deepika’s husband and a star in his own right, was a constant presence on the set, providing support and encouragement. Known for his dynamic energy and ever-vivacious personality, Singh seemed settled and at ease, even during these potentially stressful moments. Saswata also took a moment to describe Ranveer as someone who ‘can’t stand in one place,’ highlighting his vibrant and animated nature.

The couple had announced their pregnancy earlier in February of this year, and they are joyously expecting their first child in September. The filming of “Kalki 2898 AD” had already generated significant buzz given the star-studded cast, which includes legendary actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, and Kamal Haasan.
