Horror-Comedy ‘Kakuda’ Promises a Unique Blend of Laughs and Chills

Get ready for an unparalleled cinematic experience as ZEE5, India’s premier home-grown video streaming platform, unveils the trailer for the eagerly awaited horror-comedy, ‘Kakuda.’ Directed by the trailblazing Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by the reputable RSVP, ‘Kakuda’ is scheduled to premiere on July 12th, exclusively on ZEE5. The film stars a dynamic ensemble cast, featuring Sonakshi Sinha, Riteish Deshmukh, Saqib Saleem, and Aasif Khan, each bringing their unique flair to this unconventional narrative.

The trailer offers an intriguing peek into the narrative set in the haunted village of Ratodi. Viewers are introduced to Sunny, portrayed by Saqib Saleem, a less-educated but loveable character who falls head-over-heels for Indira, played by Sonakshi Sinha. The two decide to marry and settle in Ratodi, but find themselves ensnared in an ancient curse when Sunny neglects a critical ritual on their wedding night. Instead of appeasing Kakuda, a malicious ghost, by opening a specific door at precisely 7:15 PM, Sunny inadvertently invites disaster into their lives. Kakuda exacts his vengeance by inflicting a hump on the back of the man of the house, growing over thirteen days until it proves fatal.

With Sunny confronting imminent death, Indira urgently seeks the aid of Victor, a quirky and unconventional ghost hunter brought to life by Riteish Deshmukh. Together, this unusual trio embarks on a freakishly hilarious yet spine-chilling journey to solve the enigma of Kakuda, uncovering startling truths about the ghost’s identity, his sinister motives, and the village’s long-standing curse.

Director Aditya Sarpotdar commented on the innovative project, saying, “The release of the ‘Kakuda’ trailer is but a glimpse into the fascinating narrative of a unique folklore we’ve crafted. This labor of love has been an exhilarating ride, merging horror with comedy in a manner that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats. There are so many more laughs and frights in store when the film premieres on ZEE5. I can’t wait for viewers to immerse themselves in the delightful and chilling tale of Ratodi village and its ghostly legend. It promises to be both fun and unforgettable.”

Riteish Deshmukh, who plays the eccentric ghost hunter Victor, shared his excitement about the role, stating, “I’m absolutely thrilled to be part of the quirky and eccentric world of ‘Kakuda.’ Portraying Victor allowed me to explore an entirely new facet of my acting capabilities.
