Based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga and anime, One Piece follows Monkey D. Luffy (played by Iñaki Godoy) and his pirate crew on their quest to find the ultimate treasure, the “One Piece,” and claim the title of Pirate King. The first season, featuring Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji, captivated audiences worldwide.

The announcement has generated waves of anticipation, not only for the characters entering the series but also for the potential twists and turns that are expected in Season 2’s plot. Particularly notable is the inclusion of Smoker, a character many fans hold dear and consider pivotal to the One Piece narrative. Known for his stern demeanor and his relentless pursuit of pirates, Smoker is a Marine officer whose portrayal has large shoes to fill. Callum Kerr, who has been given this challenging role, is stepping into a character rich with complexities and fan expectations.

Julia Rehwald, widely known for her role in the “Fear Street” trilogy, is taking on the role of Tashigi. A dedicated Marine swordswoman, Tashigi is another fan-favorite whose precise swordsmanship and moral compass make her a compelling character to watch. Rehwald’s addition is expected to bring a fresh dynamism to the series.

Rob Colletti will portray Wapol, the tyrannical king with a gluttonous ability to consume and transform anything he eats. Wapol’s presence as a villain will undoubtedly add layers of conflict and depth to the upcoming season.

. Ty Keogh as Dalton, the former warrior turned kind-hearted sheriff of Drum Island, rounds out this exciting roster of new characters. Dalton’s moral integrity and loyalty to his people bring a valiant aura that fans are eager to see adapted.

Season 2 promises to expand the already diverse cast with newcomers like Daniel Lasker, Camrus Johnson, Jazzara Jaslyn, and David Dastmalchian, who will portray members of the Baroque Works organization. Additionally, Werner Coetser, Brendan Murray, and Clive Russell are set to bring the characters of Dory, Brogy, and Crocus to life.

Netflix’s One Piece live-action adaptation has also drawn attention for its impressive production values and adherence to the source material, factors critical to winning over the manga’s dedicated fanbase. The creative team behind the adaptation includes showrunners Steven Maeda and Matt Owens, who have successfully bridged the animated world to a live-action setting.

Season 1’s success was marked by its presence in Netflix’s Global Top 10 for eight weeks, reaching the Top 10 in 93 countries, and debuting at #1 in 46. These impressive statistics underscore the global appeal of One Piece, transforming it from an already popular manga and anime into a live-action phenomenon. The synergy between Shueisha, the manga’s publisher, and Tomorrow Studios has yielded a product that holds promise for longevity and continued success.

For those not familiar with One Piece, the story revolves around Monkey D. Luffy and his motley crew of pirates who embark on wild adventures on the high seas. Produced in partnership with Shueisha and Tomorrow Studios, and with a seasoned executive production team, Season 2 is poised to continue the series’ momentum and deliver another round of high-seas adventures.
