Remarkable Journey of Nirbhay Thacker From Weak Student to Gujarat’s Youngest Engineer

Normally, children finish school by the age of 17 and complete college at around 22 or 23. However, there is one extraordinary child prodigy who defied the norms and created a new record at a very young age through his exceptional talent and passion. We are talking about the genius kid Nirbhay Thacker, who amazed everyone a few years ago, especially considering he was once tagged as a weak student by his teachers.

Nirbhay Thacker’s academic journey is as inspiring as it is incredible. Born in 2002, Nirbhay was initially perceived as a weak student at school, a label that would soon be challenged in the most extraordinary manner. His father, Dhaval Thacker, an engineer, and his mother, a doctor, nurtured Nirbhay’s extraordinary talents from a young age. Understanding traditional methods of education weren’t suiting Nirbhay, his parents encouraged him to explore methods that resonated with his understanding.

In an insightful interview, Nirbhay elaborated on the shift in his academic experience. “I believe that if you understand what you are reading, you can clear any examination. Learning by rote never helps anyone,” he said. This principle guided him through his accelerated studies. Initially enrolled in a CBSE school until the sixth standard, Nirbhay made a strategic shift when he realized his school wasn’t allowing younger students to participate in competitions until they completed the sixth standard. He transferred to an IGCSE school as a private candidate, a decision that proved to be a turning point.

In a spectacular display of his aptitude, Nirbhay took only six months to clear the 8th to 10th standards and an astonishing three months to pass the 11th and 12th standards in 2015-16. By the age of 13, he had completed his HSC, an achievement that stunned everyone around him.

But Nirbhay’s extraordinary academic accomplishments did not stop there. In 2018, at the age of 15, he became Gujarat’s youngest engineer, completing a four-year engineering degree from Gujarat Technological University (GTU) in just one year.

. Nirbhay had successfully passed the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) securing a score of 75/360. His rapid academic progression shattered previous records and set new benchmarks for what could be achieved with dedication and the right learning approach.

Not content with this alone, Nirbhay set his sights even higher. He aimed to complete ten engineering degrees over three years and managed to conquer five different engineering branches in just four years. These branches included electrical, mechanical, computer, instrumentation and automation, and chemical engineering. This ambitious pursuit was a clear testament to his determination and unparalleled intellect.

Following these stunning achievements, Nirbhay joined the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar, focusing on research and product development. He expressed a keen interest in working on next-gen technologies within the Defence sector. His future aspirations also include earning a PhD, adding another layer to his already extraordinary academic portfolio.

Recognizing his remarkable achievements, the World Education Congress felicitated Nirbhay with the Young Achiever Award. Nirbhay’s story is not just one of academic excellence but also of breaking barriers and challenging perceptions. He stands as an inspiring figure for young students around the world who may feel confined by traditional education systems.

Nirbhay’s journey demonstrates that with the right guidance and a focus on understanding over rote learning, one can achieve beyond the expected norms. His success story encourages educational institutions to reconsider their approaches and embrace more flexible, student-centered strategies that cater to individual strengths and talents.

Looking ahead, the world waits in anticipation to see the kinds of innovations and contributions that Nirbhay Thacker will bring to the fields of engineering and technology. His journey, from being labeled a weak student to achieving unparalleled academic success, serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for students, educators, and parents alike.
