BMW Joytown Festival Merges Automotive Thrills with Musical Beats in Mumbai

Music lovers and automobile enthusiasts in Mumbai have an electrifying weekend to mark on their calendars. Slated for the second weekend of April, the buzzing metropolis will become the pulsating heart of the BMW Joytown festival. Set to take place at the MMRDA R2 Ground in BKC, this two-day event will combine an eclectic mix of music, dance, high-performance vehicles, and gourmet delights under a single platform.

In what promises to be a spectacular second edition of the festival, attendees will be treated to live performances by top-notch musical talents such as the electro-pop duo The Chainsmokers and the charismatic Punjabi pop icon Diljit Dosanjh. To complement the auditory feast, visitors will also be given the opportunity to immerse themselves in a handpicked selection of BMW’s automotive prowess. This includes exclusive driving experiences and jaw-dropping demonstrations of drifting dexterity performed by skilled stuntmen on BMW Motorrad bikes.

Drawing from the success of the inaugural Joytown festival, which captivated nearly 19,000 participants in Delhi in December 2022 and continued its fanfare in Mumbai and Bengaluru in January 2023, BMW Group India President Vikram Pawah reminisces about the event’s booming debut. “It featured 27 artists and presented an array of dishes from 60 culinary and gourmet food brands,” he recalls with pride.

For this year’s event, the lineup boasts additional star-studded musicians like Karan Kanchan and Armaan Malik, as well as the upbeat band When Chai Met Toast. Pawah enlightens us that there will be a total of eight prominent artists and 20 food brands present this year, including local favorites such as Lil Gamby Pizza Shop & Bar and international delights like Nara Thai India. With over 10,000 tickets already snapped up, the event is shaping up to be an unmissable affair.

At the BMW Joytown festival, attendees can explore diverse zones dedicated to different aspects of BMW’s design and engineering expertise. Vikram shares, “The BMW zone itself is a spectacle with a city circuit for sedans, an adventure trail for the BMW X range, adrenaline alley for BMW M cars, and an electric zone devoted to BMW i electric vehicles.” In addition, the festival will spotlight the MINI range, including the iconic Mini Countryman and Mini Three-Door Hatch. This zone will also offer creative activities such as spray painting a Mini, caricature, tattoo art, and face painting.

Bike aficionados will be particularly enthralled by The Motorrad Garage within the BMW Motorrad zone, where they can feast their eyes on the full range of BMW bikes, from cutting-edge models to esteemed vintage machines. Vikram promises that this will also be the zone to find an array of high-quality gear and apparel for fashionable riders, not to mention a casual Beer Garden and the thrill of watching expert stuntmen executing their stunning stunts and drifts.

For those yearning to experience the grandeur of BMW Joytown, the event will be open on April 12 and 13. Tickets are up for grabs starting at ₹6,999 and can be secured through in.bookmyshow.com.
