Hyderabad’s Budding Artists Flourish at Bala Vikas Kala 2024 Workshop

The bustling city of Hyderabad is about to immerse itself in the world of vibrant hues and imaginative strokes once again, as the M. Eshwariah Art Gallery gears up for the much-anticipated second iteration of its art workshop, Bala Vikas Kala 2024. Tailored for youngsters aged between 6 to 18, this initiative not only offers a platform to showcase their innate artistic talents but also aims to instill an array of valuable skills. “Art is a powerful tool to encourage children’s creativity; it is a stress-buster, improves fine motor abilities, observation skills, self-esteem and helps them to meet and interact,” states M Sanjay Kumar, the visionary founder of the hosting gallery.

The curtain raiser for this creative event is set to impress, with an exhibition spotlighting a stunning collection of 80 art pieces, diligently crafted by youthful hands from more than 50 schools across Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Scheduled for April 24, these artistic outputs are the result of a call made by the gallery in March that invited the children to channel their expressions through art.

As the workshops commence, participants will be ushered into a realm where creativity knows no bounds, ranging from the delicate art of calligraphy to the structural beauty of terracotta. Under the expert tutelage of skilled artists such as G S Shamsuddin (calligraphy), Ram Prathap (pencil sketching), Ramu Maredu (terracotta), Indira (fabric painting), Lalita (quilling art), and Niveditha Chakraborthy (watercolor painting), students will be immersed in four days of intensive learning and creation. Each session is thoughtfully segmented into morning and afternoon stretches—from 10 am to 1 pm, then 2 pm to 5 pm—to accommodate the busy schedules of young learners.

This artistic endeavor goes beyond skill development and emerges as a celebration of the vivid imagination that every child harbors. Sanjay believes that these workshops serve as a catalyst in discovering and nurturing special talents. By assembling a host of specialized techniques, Bala Vikas Kala 2024 is a testament to the gallery’s dedication to cultivating the innate flair present in each budding artist.

The exchange of colors and shapes is not the only currency at this event, as the purchase of any artwork from the exhibit will contribute to a noble cause. Proceeds are earmarked for the distribution of sanitary pads, a social outreach initiative by CHORD, a voluntary organization deeply engaged with the city’s welfare.

Keen learners wishing to be part of this innovative venture must register with a fee of ₹300. While they are expected to bring essential items such as writing pads, water, and snacks, the organizers provide all requisite art materials to let creativity bloom unencumbered.

As the event propels towards its culmination on April 28, an awards ceremony will honor the first three winners from the exhibition. Nonetheless, every participant will walk away with tangible tokens of accomplishment, including certificates and mementoes, commemorating their involvement.

Bala Vikas Kala 2024, an event that aligns with both the artistic spirit and the collective conscience, is set to take place at ES Gallery, Exhibition Grounds, Nampally—a venue that will soon pulse with the vibrant energies of Hyderabad’s youngest art community.
