Bollywood actress and Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament, Kangana Ranaut, is all set for the grand release of her highly anticipated film, “Emergency.” The movie trailer, which has generated immense buzz and excitement, is scheduled to launch on August 14, 2024. This film dives deep into a turbulent and contentious chapter of Indian history, portraying the political landscape during the Emergency declared in the 1970s. The film is set to grace theaters worldwide on September 6, 2024.

Produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, “Emergency” is a big-budget portrayal of the life and times of India’s first female Prime Minister, Mrs. Indira Gandhi. Kangana Ranaut unveiled the trailer date along with a captivating poster featuring the ensemble cast, stating, “Witness the Darkest Times of Democratic Indian History & The Lust For Power that almost burned down the Nation! #KanganaRanaut’s #EmergencyTrailer out on 14th August. The Explosive Saga of The Darkest Chapter of Indian Democracy #Emergency Unfolds In cinemas worldwide on 6th September.”

The trailer launch event will be held in Mumbai on the coming Wednesday. In a unique move, the event’s organizers have mandated a special dress code: all attendees are required to wear black. This choice symbolizes the somber period of Indian history that the film depicts.

The Emergency, declared in the mid-1970s during Indira Gandhi’s tenure as Prime Minister, is often recalled as one of the darkest phases in Indian democracy. Civil liberties were suspended, and political opponents were incarcerated without trial. By making this historical episode the core of her next movie, Kangana Ranaut aims to shed light on those turbulent times and their repercussions on contemporary Indian politics.

Sharing her thoughts on the film in a recent interview, Kangana Ranaut discussed her inspirations and objectives. She stated, “As I have always said, whether it’s Indira Gandhi or any other woman, I have a lot of empathy for women. I cannot fake this, and I also have respect for women in my heart, so I have done a lot of work for them. I have made a film based on the entire life of Indira Gandhi, and when you are an artist, everything serves as inspiration.

A leader’s credibility, deeply hidden security, insecurity, strength, or weakness are all factors to be considered so that in the future, there is no interference with our constitution. That’s why I made this film.”

Joining Kangana Ranaut in this cinematic journey are notable actors like Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles.
