Satish Tipaturu Takes Helm as Director of Rangayana in Mysuru

Theatre enthusiasts in Mysuru and across Karnataka have reason to celebrate as seasoned theatre director Satish Tipaturu has been appointed as the new director of Rangayana, the renowned theatre repertory in Mysuru. The announcement, which comes as a significant development in the state’s cultural sphere, was made by Minister for Kannada and Culture, Shivaraj Tangadagi. Alongside Tipaturu’s appointment, directors for five other prominent theatre repertories in Karnataka were also named.

Satish Tipaturu, whose induction is set to take effect on August 14, steps into a role that has been notably vacant for several months. Born on January 29, 1971, in the culturally rich district of Tumakuru, Satish Tipaturu hails from a family deeply entrenched in artistic traditions. Despite initially pursuing an education in computer science at Kalpatharu Technical College, his passion for theatre soon took precedence. Tipaturu then sought professional training at Abhinaya Taranga School of Arts in Bengaluru and further honed his skills by obtaining a diploma in theatre arts from Neenasam in Heggodu.

Over the last quarter-century, Satish Tipaturu has made substantial contributions to the theatre world as an actor, director, and educator through his organization, Bhoomi Theatre. His illustrious career features a blend of dramatic performances, directing endeavors, and educational initiatives aimed at fostering appreciation for the dramatic arts. Tipaturu’s research on ‘Evolutionary bases of theatre in our memoirs’ earned him a prestigious fellowship from the Drama Academy, reflecting his academic prowess and dedication to advancing theatre studies.

Through Bhoomi Theatre, Tipaturu has been instrumental in organizing various training camps, drama festivals, and seminars, further enriching the theatre culture in Karnataka.
