Mouni Roy Recalls Memorable Filming Experience with Diljit Dosanjh on ‘Love Ya’

The entertainment industry was recently set abuzz as actor Mouni Roy joined forces with the multifaceted Diljit Dosanjh for the catchy romantic number ‘Love Ya’. This collaboration marks their first artistic venture together. Released on the occasion of Dosanjh’s birthday this month, ‘Love Ya’ rapidly captured the hearts of fans, amassing over 15 million views within a mere five days of its release.

The song encapsulates a vibrant romantic vibe featuring the duo showcasing their sizzling chemistry. Speaking with mid-day.com post-release, Mouni Roy expressed her excitement and deep admiration for Diljit’s work. “For me, more than anything it was to be in a song with Diljit. He is such a beautiful talent. He is so talented so just to collaborate with him was the icing on the cake,” Roy articulated.

Mouni Roy reflected on the intense yet rewarding process of bringing ‘Love Ya’ to life. The shoot extended over 18-19 hours, which seemed daunting yet surprisingly pleasant, thanks to the presence and demeanor of Dosanjh. “Honestly, I always felt like he is an embodiment of peace,” Mouni remarked on working closely with Dosanjh. She went on to describe the atmosphere he created on set, one that was marked by humility and profound tranquility even amid the long working hours. “It’s difficult to stay calm after a certain point in time [due to long shifts], but with him, there wasn’t a trace of irritation. In my head, I see him as peace, mayhem, and madness all in one—love and light. This one shoot day will always be remembered in my entire life because when somebody you look up to turns out to be a better human being than a superstar, that’s a very fulfilling experience.”

Roy took to Instagram to share a glimpse behind the scenes of ‘Love Ya’, revealing yet another side of her co-star that she finds delightful—Diljit’s well-known, viral-making vlogs. “So entertaining, so funny,” she said while chuckling. Mouni hinted that Diljit might have been creating another of his famous vlogs in his van during breaks from the music video shoot. She talked about the authenticity and comedic touch Diljit brings to these short social media snippets, especially his unique voiceovers, which have garnered widespread acclaim.

When delving into the approach of taking on a music video with a narrative, Mouni discussed her method, indicating it was her second or third project of this nature. Unlike predominantly dance-centric videos she’s done in the past, portraying a story within the concise framework of a song posed a different challenge. Roy believes that storytelling is an art, constrained only by time in the context of music videos, where you don’t have the luxury of lengthy scripts and screenplays like in films and shows. Succinct narration is heavily reliant on the creative vision of the choreographer and the director. As an actor, she feels her job is to embody the emotions and perform to the best of her ability, ultimately fulfilling the directors’ and choreographers’ storytelling aspirations.

The success of ‘Love Ya’ not only signifies another hit for the talented artists but also underscores the prowess of collaborative artistry, where different creative spheres intersect to produce magic that enthralls audiences worldwide. It also evidences Mouni Roy’s versatile talent as both an actor and a performer, and forges a new artistic relationship with the celebrated Diljit Dosanjh, whose tranquility and talent seem to have left an indelible mark on her.
