Priyamani Discusses Future of ‘Jawan’ and Celebrates Shah Rukh Khan’s Return at IIFA 2024

During an engaging press conference at the IIFA Utsavam 2024, actress Priyamani addressed the burning question on many fans’ minds: Will Shah Rukh Khan return as Azaad in a sequel to the blockbuster film ‘Jawan’? Her answer, however, kept the future of this possibility shrouded in mystery.

When a media representative posed the question about the likelihood of ‘Jawan 2’, Priyamani gracefully deflected, stating, “I don’t know Sir, I think Atlee Sir would be the best person to answer it.” Given the immense popularity of the first film and the collective anticipation for a follow-up, her comment only added fuel to the fervor surrounding the potential sequel.

In addition to addressing rumors about ‘Jawan 2’, the ‘Golimaar’ actress went on to discuss her bustling work schedule and upcoming projects. Priyamani revealed, “I am shooting for ‘Family Man 3’, I am shooting for another web series, and there are some films in South India that I can’t announce right now but will make an announcement very soon.” These tidbits provided a peek into her busy life and hinted at more exciting projects on the horizon.

The press conference also took an emotional turn when another media member inquired about her experience with online trolling following her role in ‘Family Man 2’. Priyamani’s response was both candid and insightful. “I didn’t take it seriously because if there is so much troll and so much negative news, that means I must have done something good, I must have done something right. I just take it that way. We should accept it. We can’t accept negative as negative… we have to make negative as positive,” she remarked. This resilient attitude has clearly helped her navigate the often harsh world of social media.

Questions about handling fame and acclaim followed, with one reporter querying if just being good enough was adequate for lasting success in the cutthroat film industry. Priyamani responded confidently, “For me, being good enough is good enough because I am the best at what I do…the love and appreciation that I get from people all over, I think that speaks volumes.” Her words echoed a deep sense of self-assurance and gratitude towards her supporters.

The conversation then shifted to a nostalgic discussion about Shah Rukh Khan’s much-anticipated return as the host of IIFA after a 24-year hiatus. Priyamani expressed her excitement, stating, “I am looking forward. I am waiting for his hosting.

Reflecting on the first anniversary of ‘Jawan,’ Priyamani shared her heartfelt emotions, saying, “It feels great… it just feels lovely that I was part of such a wonderful film. It’s wonderful people; I was really very, very honored and glad that I was part of such a wonderful film to work with Shah Rukh again.” Her appreciation for being part of the project was evident, further illuminating the impact the film had on her career.

She also gave a special thanks to the film’s director and production team, “There was a full-fledged role in this, the song in the previous film but, I was very very happy, I have to thank Atlee, Atlee sir and Red Chillies and everybody for having me part of the project,” she concluded. Her words highlighted the collaborative effort behind the film’s success.

Detailing her first day on the set of ‘Jawan’, Priyamani recounted a memorable interaction with Shah Rukh Khan. “The very first day that we had a combination. I remember there was a thing where we were shooting sequence-wise, we were shooting the metro sequence first so we got called by the production team, saying you know sir would you like to meet all of us. So when all six of us walked onto the set, I was the first one to go and meet him, I was the first one I remember he gave me the biggest and the warmest of the hugs and he kissed me right here (head) and he said thank you so much for being a part of it, and I haven’t had a bath since then, I am just joking,” she concluded with a laugh. Her anecdote painted a picture of camaraderie and respect felt among the cast.

The IIFA Utsavam 2024, a grand three-day event starting on September 27 in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, aims to celebrate excellence in Indian cinema. Priyamani’s insights offered a tantalizing glimpse into the world behind the scenes, leaving fans and media alike eagerly awaiting future developments in her career and the potential continuation of ‘Jawan’.
