Aamir Khan attends special screening for Laapataa Ladies in City of Lakes recalls old days says ‘My father is from Bhopal’

The city of Bhopal recently played host to a glamorous event that marked the special premiere of the upcoming film “Laapataa Ladies,” slated for release on March 1st, 2024. This cinematic creation, which enjoyed a special screening in none other than the City of Lakes, brought together the cast and crew, including the producer, Aamir Khan, director Kiran Rao, and leading stars Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastav, and Nitanshi Goel.

Bhopal, with its serene beauty and warm populace, greeted the team with open arms and effusive praise, leaving the visiting celebrities visibly overwhelmed by the affection showered upon them. Aamir Khan, whose own lineage traces back to this historic city, spoke fondly of his connection to Bhopal. “My father is from Bhopal. I have been to Bhopal 3-4 times, and it’s a very beautiful place. I think it’s one of India’s most beautiful places,” he reminisced.

The premiere was not just an occasion for reflection but also celebration, as Aamir Khan and company took to the stage, dancing to the catchy ‘Doubtwa’ song from their film, much to the delight of the fans gathered. This gesture further cemented the bond between the viewers and the creators of “Laapataa Ladies”.

“Laapataa Ladies,” told against the bucolic backdrop of rural India circa 2001, is a tale of two young brides who mysteriously go missing on a train journey. What follows is a whirlwind of enigma as characters entangle themselves in a search that is as baffling as it is revealing. The film is presented by Jio Studios and is a product of the collaborative effort of Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions. The narrative, credited to Biplab Goswami, has been brought to life with Sneha Desai’s screenplay and dialogues, supplemented by Divyanidhi Sharma’s additional dialogues.

Being more than just the producer of the film, Aamir Khan has been a staunch supporter of its making. His confidence in the project was palpable when he previously commented, “I am absolutely thrilled with the audience, press, and industry response to ‘Laapataa Ladies.’ I feel especially proud of Kiran, and her emergence as a strong voice in the popular space! Can’t wait for the film to release now.”

Kiran Rao, renowned for her directorial finesse, also shared her joy over the positive reception the film has received thus far. “There’s no better reward for a filmmaker than to experience firsthand the laughter, tears, and applause of your audience,” she stated. Her gratitude rang clear as she thanked the supporters, fueling anticipation for the domestic release of the film.

The Bhopal event was more than just another promotional stop; it was a convergence of fans, artists, and shared heritage – a fitting tribute to the ethos that “Laapataa Ladies” encapsulates. With the city’s natural allure providing a perfect backdrop, the team engaged with fans, creating moments and memories that asserted the power of cinema in connecting hearts across geographical divides.

As the countdown to the release date continues, “Laapataa Ladies” promises to be a cinematic journey that offers laughs, thrills, and, perhaps, a gentle tug at the heartstrings. With the stage set for its nationwide release, the special screening in Bhopal will be remembered as more than just a première – it will stand out as an event where film, family, and the fondness of a city came together in perfect harmony. The stage is now set for the rest of the country to embrace “Laapataa Ladies” and unravel the mysteries it lovingly weaves.
