“Harbhajan Singh Shares Insights on India’s World Cup Ambitions: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya Big Players But…”

India is eagerly awaiting the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, which will be hosted by the country in October this year. Led by Rohit Sharma, the Indian cricket team aims to end their decade-long drought of winning an ICC trophy. The tournament will kick off on October 5 with defending champions England facing off against New Zealand in Ahmedabad. India’s first match will be against Australia on October 8 in Chennai. Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh believes that India’s success in the World Cup depends on the collective effort of all the players.

Harbhajan emphasized the importance of multiple players stepping up during high-pressure situations, rather than relying solely on one or two individuals. He stressed the need for every player to possess the ability to perform under tense circumstances.

“It’s difficult for me to pinpoint what we had and they don’t. In the 2015 and 2019 World Cups, we made it to the semifinals but fell short of winning the ICC trophy. Perhaps the ability to bounce back after absorbing pressure was evident in only one or two players. To win big tournaments, we need to function as a team,” Harbhajan shared with News24 Sports.

He acknowledged the presence of big players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya but emphasized that the entire team, including the remaining eight to ten players and the team management, must work together with the same goal in mind.

Harbhajan further expressed that focusing on smaller aspects, such as saving a single run or executing a brilliant run-out, can have a significant impact on achieving “bigger results” in the World Cup.
