Aparshakti Khurana Carves His Own Niche in Bollywood Unfazed by Brother Ayushmann’s Stardom

Bollywood actor Aparshakti Khurana, known for his captivating performances, is grabbing the spotlight with his eclectic career choices, steering clear of the shadow cast by his star sibling, Ayushmann Khurrana. The silver screen has seen the Khurana brothers together in the critically acclaimed 2019 movie ‘Bala,’ where both delivered commendable performances.

With an array of projects showcasing his versatility, Aparshakti Khurana shared his journey exclusively with mid-day.com, including the transition from comedy to more intense roles, his independence in the film fraternity, and the brotherly bond that transcends professional life.

Aparshakti was recently featured in the spy thriller ‘Berlin,’ which had its premiere at the Red Lorry Film Festival organized by BookMyShow. Reflecting on his progress, Khurana recounted how, after mainly focusing on comedy at the outset of his career, he bravely embraced more serious roles in films like ‘Jubilee’ and ‘Dhokha: Round D Corner’. “Suddenly there was a certain kind of intensity which the casting directors and the makers could see in my eyes and people have also accepted me in this space. But the next one which I’m going to shoot is a comedy. So I’m happy that I’m getting to do a mix of all the worlds,” he remarked, hinting at the diversity of his acting portfolio.

While it’s a little-known fact that Khurana’s acting debut was with ‘Saat Uchakkey’, released months before the blockbuster ‘Dangal’, it was his role in the latter, starring Aamir Khan, that made the industry sit up and take notice. His brother, Ayushmann Khurrana, had already made a mark in Indian cinema with his exceptional choices in film roles and captivating performances by the time Aparshakti stepped into the spotlight. Yet, the budding talent does not consider his brother’s fame a crutch for his own career. He emphasized the significance of forging his own path, stating, “Whatever little I’ve achieved is a journey of my own. I didn’t take any star brother launch.”

Aparshakti’s assertion holds weight as he stands out as a rare example of a sibling making his mark independent of a superstar brother’s influence. Unlike many who might feel overshadowed, Aparshakti firmly believes in his individuality. “I don’t remember the last time a sibling got so much love from the fraternity and the audience. He (Ayushmann) in his space, me in my space, get all the love and respect from people around. And that’s also because of the kind of roles I have chosen,” he stated.

The camaraderie between the brothers does not reflect in potential career interference; rather, it shines through their mutual respect and non-intrusive support for each other. This sentiment was clear when Aparshakti addressed the notion of being overshadowed: “I don’t really get bothered with the fact that I’ll get overshadowed or something because I don’t take his help. We don’t interfere in each other’s work.”

Aparshakti Khurana’s next cinematic outing will be in the much-anticipated ‘Stree 2,’ a sequel to the horror-comedy hit ‘Stree’. Fans and critics alike are eager to see what new dimension Aparshakti will add to this vibrant genre. As his star continues to rise, it’s evident that Aparshakti Khurana is crafting a shimmering constellation of his own in Bollywood’s vast sky, with his talent carving his singular niche, illuminated with the light of his unique performances.
