Mumbai: The explosive events stirred by Bigg Boss OTT Season 3 continue to reverberate outside the reality show’s swanky set, as participants Ranvir Shorey and Sana Makbul find themselves embroiled in a heated war of words. Sparks flew yet again when Ranvir Shorey lashed out at Sana Makbul, accusing her of exhibiting female chauvinism, in response to her allegations of male chauvinism against him.
In a recent interview with the Indian Express, Ranvir Shorey did not mince words while addressing the accusations leveled against him by Sana Makbul. Calling her a “female chauvinist,” Shorey went on to elaborate on her conduct during the show, asserting that respect is a two-way street regardless of gender.
“I believe Sana is a female chauvinist. You only get respect when you give it to others. Being a girl is not a license to misbehave and be unapologetic,” said Shorey. “When she told me something, I gave it back, so now she shouldn’t be crying over me disrespecting her. Initially, we got along very well, I used to lovingly call her Pookie.”
As the interview progressed, Shorey reflected on their initially amicable relationship. He revealed that he regretfully made a comment about her lips, unaware of any related incidents that might have made the comment more hurtful. “I felt really bad about commenting on her lips but I didn’t know the dog incident. It started on a good note, but later when our fights began, she would twist the topic and that caught on.”
The atmosphere in the Bigg Boss house turned increasingly volatile as Sana and Ranvir frequently engaged in fierce arguments. Both hurled scathing remarks at each other, with their confrontations often becoming a focal point of the show. Despite the heated exchanges, Shorey criticized the viewers for supposedly lowering their standards in response to these confrontations.
On her part, Sana Makbul earlier told the Indian Express that she felt Shorey’s behavior stemmed from a deep-seated discomfort with women who are confident and outspoken. “Strong women are not appreciated, and he is one of those male chauvinists who doesn’t like it if women do better than him. I don’t want to say anything about him.
. I have buried it all. I don’t hold any grudge against him. But if he does that, it is his way of dealing with things,” said Makbul.
She explained that post her exit from the Bigg Boss house, she chose to let bygones be bygones. “When I stepped out from the Bigg Boss house, I let the bygones be bygones. It’s all over for me.”
Back in the house, Shorey had stirred significant controversy by questioning Makbul’s victory, calling her an undeserving winner. Yet, in a dramatic turnaround, he later praised her for her determination to win. This change of heart left many fans and critics wondering about the true nature of their tumultuous relationship.
Ranvir reiterated his stance, emphasizing that he believes respect is earned and not given by default due to one’s gender. “You only get respect when you give it to others, being a girl is not a license to misbehave and be unapologetic,” he stated once again, doubling down on his earlier comments.
Sana’s strength as an opinionated woman, she argued, was perceived negatively by Shorey. Her candid remarks about men like Shorey have since been echoed by numerous supporters outside the Bigg Boss house, adding another layer to the ongoing public discussion about gender roles and respect.
While the back-and-forth between Shorey and Makbul dominated headlines, their confrontations also sparked necessary conversations about gender dynamics and respect in public and private spheres.
In the cultural microcosm of the Bigg Boss house, such intense interactions often serve as mirrors to the larger societal issues, providing both entertainment and, inadvertently, much-needed dialogue. As these two powerful personalities continue to clash, the public remains captivated, eagerly following each new development in this unfolding saga.
With Bigg Boss OTT 3 having ended some weeks ago, the question remains whether the participants will move past their grievances or continue to fan the flames of controversy that have kept them in the spotlight. One thing is clear: both Ranvir Shorey and Sana Makbul are leaving an indelible mark on the show’s legacy, and perhaps, on the broader conversation about gender dynamics in Indian entertainment.
