Bollywood Buzz: Kriti Sanon Likely to Star Opposite Dhanush in ‘Tere Ishq Mein’

Bollywood is abuzz with the latest development: renowned actor Kriti Sanon is in advanced talks to play the lead role opposite Dhanush in the much-anticipated romantic drama, ‘Tere Ishq Mein’. The film is being helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Aanand L Rai, who has previously worked with Dhanush on successful projects like “Raanjhanaa” (2013) and “Atrangi Re” (2021).

Initially, Triptii Dimri was under consideration for the female lead, but recent reports suggest the spotlight has now shifted to Kriti Sanon. Sources indicate that Sanon, who sat through a narration of the script two months ago, was particularly drawn to her character’s depth and the pivotal role it plays in driving the film’s narrative. According to insiders, Kriti met with Rai earlier this week and has verbally agreed to join the project. The formal paperwork is anticipated to be finalized by the end of this month.

As per reports, the film is set to begin production this October. The makers are also in the process of casting for a parallel male lead. The primary cast selection is expected to be completed soon, with filming projected to take place across various locations in India.

The announcement of ‘Tere Ishq Mein’ adds another feather to Aanand L Rai’s cap, promising a fresh collaboration that has the potential to capture audience imaginations just like his previous ventures with Dhanush.

In other Bollywood updates, Ajay Devgn’s ‘Shaitaan’, which emerged as a box-office hit earlier this year, is set for a sequel. The original film, which made waves for its gripping storyline and Devgn’s powerful performance, will soon have its follow-up. The team is in the process of finalizing the script, after which decisions will be made about the production schedule. Ajay Devgn, currently busy with several projects, including ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ in the UK, has a busy slate with upcoming releases like ‘Singham Again’, ‘Raid 2’, and ‘De De Pyaar De 2’, among others. If this trajectory continues, Devgn might just become the face of the highest number of Bollywood film franchises.

The realm of Bollywood is also set to revive old classics, as Sunny Deol gears up for a gripping climax sequence on a train in ‘Lahore, 1947’, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.

. This project symbolizes a reunion with intense storytelling akin to ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ (2001). The sequence, which will showcase a train journey between India and Pakistan, aims to bring the tumultuous emotions of the Partition era vividly to the silver screen. Filming of this climactic scene will take place over the next few weeks, with a 2024 release date in sight.

Meanwhile, the King Khan of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, is venturing into new territories with ‘King’, which will also be the big-screen debut of his daughter, Suhana Khan. The action thriller is directed by Sujoy Ghosh and features Abhishek Bachchan as the antagonist. Adding more talent to the film, Abhay Verma has reportedly been roped in for a pivotal role. The film is set to begin shooting in various locations, both in India and abroad, starting this November. The musical score for ‘King’ will be composed by Anirudh, who previously worked with Shah Rukh Khan on ‘Jawan’ (2023).

On another cinematic note, Vicky Kaushal is riding high on the success of ‘Bad Newz’ and is now set to star in Laxman Utekar’s historical drama ‘Chhaava’. The film will see Kaushal portray Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, with Rashmika Mandanna playing the role of his wife, Yesubai Bhonsale. For authenticity, both actors underwent a month-long training in Marathi to perfect their diction. ‘Chhaava’ is scheduled for a December 6 release, which coincidentally will also see the release of Mandanna’s other film, ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, directed by Sukumar and starring Allu Arjun.

Actor Rajkummar Rao is set to take a departure from his usual comedic roles to tackle more serious subject matter in director Pulkit’s next film, following ‘Bhakshak’. Details about the film’s plot are still under wraps, but filming is slated to begin next month in India. The project will feature former Miss World Manushi Chhillar as the leading lady, marking a fresh and novel pairing for Rao.

As the Bollywood industry continues to churn out diverse and exciting projects, fans can look forward to a wide array of films that promise to captivate and entertain.
