Bollywood Mourns Menaka Irani: SRK and Gauri Khan Offer Support to Farah and Sajid Khan

In a heartfelt display of solidarity, Bollywood icons Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan visited the Mumbai residence of filmmakers Farah Khan and Sajid Khan to pay their respects following the demise of their mother, Menaka Irani. The beloved matriarch passed away on July 26 at the age of 79. Accompanied by their daughter Suhana Khan and Shah Rukh’s manager Pooja Dadlani, the Khans extended their condolences and support to the grieving family.

Captured by the ever-present shutterbugs, Shah Rukh and Farah’s touching interaction underlined the deep bond they share. As they exited the residence, Farah was seen hugging Shah Rukh and Suhana, a moment that spoke volumes about their long-standing friendship and mutual support.

An Instagram post by Farah Khan Kunder highlighted her deep affection for her late mother. Farah emotionally recounted the strength and humor her mother displayed even after undergoing multiple surgeries. She had optimistically written on her mother’s birthday, “This last month has been a revelation on how much I love my mom Menka. She has been the strongest, bravest person I’ve ever seen… sense of humor intact even after multiple surgeries. Happy birthday mom! Today’s a good day to come back home. Can’t wait for you to get strong enough to start fighting with me again… I love you.”

The somber occasion saw the arrival of numerous Bollywood celebrities who came to pay their respects. Stars like Rani Mukerji, Shilpa Shetty, Bhushan Kumar, and rapper MC Stan were among those who visited Farah’s home to console the family. Their presence highlighted the close-knit nature of the Bollywood community and its readiness to come together in times of loss.

Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan’s professional relationship has resulted in multiple box office hits such as ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Om Shanti Om’, and ‘Happy New Year’. Their camaraderie extends well beyond their professional endeavors into a profound personal friendship. This was evident in Farah’s heartfelt revelations during an interview with Nova IVF Fertility, where she opened up about SRK’s unwavering support during some of the most challenging periods of her life.

Farah recalled a particularly touching incident from the time when she was trying to conceive. She said, “The first time I went to the doctor, I was so sure that I was pregnant, but I literally got my period in her office. So I used to be sobbing all the way back to the shoot. One day, in the middle of the day, I got a call from the doctor, and she said it’s not happened this time. We were shooting a comic scene, and Shah Rukh knew something was wrong because I was going to cry. So, he called for a break and took me into his van, where I sobbed for an hour.”

When Farah eventually got good news, Shah Rukh was the first person she informed, right after her mother. “I said, ‘I have to tell you something.’ He looked at me and said, ‘Are you pregnant?’ We still had to finish Darde-e-Disco, and every time he’d remove his shirt I would throw up. He was very sweet; he ordered this lazy boy couch instead of the director’s chair so that I could lie down with a mic and shout at people,” she fondly remembered.

The heartfelt gathering at Farah and Sajid’s residence is a testament to the close bonds shared within the Bollywood fraternity. As they mourn the loss of Menaka Irani, the outpouring of support from friends and colleagues underscores a shared commitment to standing by one another through both triumphs and tribulations.

The industry collectively continues to send their condolences to Farah, Sajid, and their family, holding on to the memories of Menaka Irani’s strength and humor. Her legacy lives on through her children’s contributions to Indian cinema and the support of their extensive Bollywood family.
