The hit combo is officially back! Master filmmaker Vetri Maaran had previously announced that his next project, after Suriya’s Vaadivaasal, will be with Dhanush. The project, the combo’s fifth collaboration, is set to be bankrolled by RS Infotainment, the banner that bankrolled Vetri’s Viduthalai films.
The news was announced by the banner on Monday (January 13), on the 25th day of the release of Viduthalai: Part 2.

Details regarding the setting, cast and crew of the new film remain unknown. It also remains unknown if the upcoming film will be a standlone project, or the much-anticipated sequel to Vada Chennai.
Notably, Vetri had revealed the news in 2022 during the audio launch of Dhanush’s Thiruchitrambalam.Dhanush and Vetri had earlier joined hands for Polladhavan, Aadukalam, Vada Chennai, and Asuran. Dhanush had won the Best Actor National Awards for his performances in Aadukalam and Asuran.
Meanwhile, Vetri Maaran, whose Viduthalai: Part 2 was released in December 2024, is all set to start production on his upcoming film starring Suriya, Vaadivaasal. Based on a novel by C.S. Chellappa, the film revolves around Jallikattu, a traditional event that takes place in Tamil Nadu as part of Pongal celebrations.
While GV Prakash Kumar is composing the music for this project, R Velraj handles the camera. The film is produced by Kalaipuli Thanu under his V Creations banner.
Dhanush, last seen in Raayan, has Sekhar Kammula’s Kubera, also starring Rashmika Mandanna and Akkineni Nagarjuna, Idly Kadai, co-starring Nithya Menen, and an untitled film with Rajkumar Periasamy of Amaran fame in the pipeline.
