Imagine a navy blue hull, white top deck, yellow lifeboats…Disney Cruise Line’s newest vessel, Disney Adventure, is set to embark on three and four-night voyages from Singapore’s Marina Bay Cruise Centre in 2025 for the next five years, marking it as their first vessel to homeport in Asia.
At a media event held in Singapore, attended by surprise appearances from beloved characters like Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, Spiderman from Marvel, and Elsa from Frozen, the cruise line offered an exciting sneak peek into the ship, which is still under construction in Germany.
“At the center of this experience will be beloved Disney characters with stories of imagination, fantasy, and discovery. Captain Mickey will embody the spirit of Disney Adventure,” proclaimed Sarah Fox, vice president and regional general manager, Asia at Disney Cruise Line. Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, Disney Cruise Line first launched in 1998 and has since grown to offer captivating experiences on the sea.
The Disney Adventure is a colossal ship, boasting a passenger capacity estimated to be approximately 6,700, and around 2,500 crew members. The unique ship, weighing in at 208,000 gross tons, is designed as an innovative blend of design, entertainment, and technology, divided into seven immersive experience zones. “The ship is laid out like a treasure map with experiences where magic meets the sea,” explained Laura Cabo, portfolio executive creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering. All seven areas are inspired by Disney storytelling, ensuring something magical awaits at every turn.
The first zone, Disney Imagination Garden, stands as the emotional heart of the ship, featuring an enchanted valley garden that runs throughout the vessel.
. “Here, you may see characters flying around behind you,” added Laura, envisioning an atmosphere brimming with Disney magic. Another captivating spot, Wayfinder Bay, serves as an open-air oasis under the sun where the sky meets the sea, providing a poolside retreat inspired by the Pacific Islands and the artistry of Moana.
For fans of Pixar’s Toy Story, the Toystory Place offers a delightful playland adorned with themed food venues and water play areas where beloved Toy Story characters come to life. Disney Discovery Reef is where families can shop and dine alongside their favorite aquatic characters set in nautical storylines—a delightful nod to iconic stories like Luca, Lilo & Stitch, and Finding Nemo. In Townsquare, where Disney’s royals such as Ariel, Rapunzel, and Jasmine hang out, guests will find lounges, cafes, and restaurants that exude a “summer in full bloom” ambiance.
San Fransokyo, inspired by Big Hero 6, brings a dynamic street market setting that hosts shops, cinemas, and more, capturing the futuristic charm of the movie. Marvel enthusiasts are not left behind, with Marvel’s Landin offering a zone packed with adventures and encounters with larger-than-life Marvel superheroes aimed at all ages.
“Our team has hidden Easter eggs throughout the ship that may interest Asian audiences,” added Laura, hinting at the special touches embedded within the vessel that resonate with the local culture and lore. While specific details about bookings and accommodation options will be revealed at a later date, Sarah Fox assures that the experience aboard Disney Adventure will be nothing short of extraordinary.
