Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya Face Ordeal as Thieves Steal Passports in Florence

Indian television actors Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya, known for their roles in popular TV shows, recently faced a distressing incident while holidaying in Florence, Italy. The couple was robbed of their passports, cash, and cards when thieves broke into their vehicle. This unfortunate event occurred while they were staying at a resort close to the renowned Italian tourist destination. The actors are now in the process of registering an FIR and are awaiting assistance from the Indian Embassy, Tripathi informed over a phone call from Florence on Thursday.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon, local time. However, it wasn’t until the evening that the couple realized they had been robbed. Divyanka Tripathi, best known for her role in “Yeh Hai Mohabbatein,” shared the unsettling details, explaining that they were inside the hotel property when the theft happened. “We were hungry, and the hotel knew that we had our belongings in the car. We were checking into the hotel that same day, and they told us we could leave our things in the car while we had our food. We thought it would be safe since it’s a resort property and not on the street,” Tripathi recounted.

The resort where the incident occurred is approximately half an hour away from the main city of Florence. According to Tripathi, either they were followed by the thieves, or such incidents happen regularly in the area. “The thieves broke the window and took everything that was in the rear seat,” she said. “Whatever we had brought from India—passports, cards, cash—everything is gone. I was stunned. The hotel staff is assisting us, but unfortunately, the property didn’t have CCTV. We made a video and took photos for proof,” she added.

Adding to their frustration, Tripathi mentioned that after 6 pm, no one can file a report anywhere in Italy. “So if anything happens between 6 pm to 9 am, you can’t do anything about it,” she said.

. The couple is now headed to the police station to file the report, hoping that this step will make it easier for them to contact someone from the Indian Embassy and resolve the situation.

Despite the ordeal, Tripathi and Dahiya are trying to maintain a positive outlook. “We are avid travelers, and we hope to come back with better memories. We are ‘pareshan’ (troubled), we are penniless, but we are keeping our spirits high. The situation is not great, but we are smiling,” Tripathi said, reflecting their resilience in the face of adversity.

The theft has undoubtedly cast a dark shadow over what was meant to be a leisurely holiday for the couple. Tripathi and Dahiya were looking forward to exploring Florence, a city renowned for its rich history, art, and architecture. Unfortunately, their experience has been marred by this distressing incident, prompting them to take measures to recover their stolen belongings and ensure their safe return to India.

Such incidents of theft are not uncommon for tourists, and this serves as a stark reminder to always be vigilant, even in seemingly secure locations. The lack of CCTV at the resort has complicated matters further for the actors, making it challenging to identify the perpetrators and retrieve their lost items. As they navigate through the bureaucratic process of filing an FIR and seeking assistance from the Indian Embassy, their ordeal highlights the vulnerabilities travelers often face when abroad.

The couple’s plight has garnered significant attention, both from their fans and the media, shedding light on the challenges that can arise during international travel. Authorities in Italy, along with the Indian Embassy, are expected to expedite their assistance to ensure the couple’s safe return and to help them recover their stolen documents.

In the meantime, Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya are relying on the support of the hotel staff and local authorities. Their story underscores the importance of having contingency plans and being prepared for unforeseen events while traveling. Despite the setback, the couple remains hopeful that they will soon overcome this ordeal and continue their travels with renewed caution and awareness.

As this story unfolds, it serves as a cautionary tale for all travelers to prioritize the security of their personal belongings and remain alert, regardless of the destination. The resilience shown by Tripathi and Dahiya in the face of adversity is commendable, and their determination to keep their spirits high is an inspiration to many.
