Singers Ed Sheeran and Shilpa Rao had a ‘Chuttamalle’ moment at the former’s Bangalore concert on February 9. Sheeran, a globally-adored singer-songwriter, took the stage as part of the India leg of his Mathematics tour.
During the performance, Ed was joined by Shilpa Rao for a cover performance of ‘Chuttamalle’, the popular Telugu song from Jr. NTR and Janhvi Kapoor’s 2024 film Devara. Ed later shared a video of their collab on Instagram, writing, “Obsessed with @shilparao’s voice for the last while, a real privilege to share the stage tonight, and learn a new language!”

Reacting to the performance, Janhvi Kapoor wrote on her Instagram Stories, “What a crossover to wake up to”
Sheeran, known for his collaborative streak, has jammed with Indian musicians before. Recently, during his Chennai show, he joined legendary composer AR Rahman to perform Urvashi Urvashi and Shape Of You together.
The Bengaluru stop of Sheeran’s concert tour has been making headlines. On Sunday, an impromptu busking performance Sheeran on Church Street was stopped abruptly by the police. While authorities claimed the singer did not have permission to perform on the busy sidewalks, Sheeran issued a statement to the contrary, writing on his Instagram account, “It wasn’t just us randomly turning up. All good though.”
