Fardeen Khan Discusses His Role as an Uber Driver in ‘Visfot’ and the Challenges Faced During Production

Bollywood actor Fardeen Khan, who has recently returned to the limelight with the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-helmed web series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,’ has now shifted the audience’s focus to his upcoming film ‘Visfot.’ In a heartfelt Instagram post, Khan shared an exclusive video and penned a detailed note discussing his character Shoeb Khan, an Uber driver from Mumbai’s Dongri area.

Khan revealed that ‘Visfot’ was the first project he signed as part of his comeback in the industry after a prolonged hiatus. “Bringing Shoeb Khan to life: My experience filming VISFOT. Taking on the role of Shoeb Khan in ‘Visfot’ challenged me in ways that pushed me out of my comfort zone, allowing me to explore a character that I had never attempted before,” he wrote. Khan described the film as a gritty Mumbai-based crime drama—an entirely new genre for him. “It tells the story of the collision of two lives from vastly different worlds—one an upper-middle-class pilot played by Riteish Deshmukh, the other an Uber driver from Dongri, Shoeb Khan. It’s the first project I signed after my return and was meant to be my first release but got delayed due to various reasons,” he added.

‘Visfot’ explores the juxtaposition of two distinct lives. Khan’s character Shoeb is deeply entrenched in Dongri’s vibrant yet challenging realities. He spoke at length about the character’s traits and the preparation he underwent. “He’s a character deeply rooted in the realities of life in Dongri, a place with its own unique pulse and challenges. It required not just understanding his circumstances, but embodying the desperation, resilience, and complex emotions that drive him through the story,” Khan elucidated. The actor elaborated that Shoeb Khan is a man who, despite his best efforts, cannot escape the ghosts of his past. “He is a man who’s tried to escape his past, but as the story unfolds, he finds himself caught in a world and among people he thought he had left behind. Finally, one day, the ghosts of his past catch up with him, pulling him back into a life he thought he had escaped. Shoeb’s journey is one of survival, and it’s this struggle that made playing him so compelling,” he explained.

Fardeen Khan also touched upon the film’s narrative structure. The storyline unfolds over a tight 24-hour timeframe, which added a layer of intensity to the plot. “The film is a 24-hour story, and the narrative’s tight timeframe added to the intensity. Every decision and every moment had consequences, and director Kookie Gulati has done an incredible job capturing the ensuing chaos in every character,” noted Khan.

He expressed his excitement for the forthcoming release, scheduled exclusively on Jio Cinema Premium this September 6th. “Having said that, I’m counting down the days. Very excited to finally share #Visfot with all of you. This film has been an incredible journey, pushing boundaries and stepping into a role unlike any I have attempted before. Can’t wait for you to experience it,” he added.

The journey to ‘Visfot’ wasn’t without its challenges. The film faced multiple delays, complicating its release. What was meant to be Khan’s first project post-hiatus ultimately took a back seat due to unforeseen reasons. Yet, Khan’s dedication to portraying Shoeb Khan never wavered, highlighting his commitment to character authenticity.

In Khan’s opinion, this role provided an opportunity to tap into uncharted territory both in character portrayal and genre. He appreciated the deep emotional connections and the unfiltered realities Shoeb has to navigate, adding further layers to his on-screen persona.

In his detailed critique, Khan also praised his co-stars and the crew. He emphasized that working with Riteish Deshmukh brought a unique energy to the set. Their dynamic is bound to captivate audiences as it contrasts the lives of a pilot and an Uber driver, showcasing two facets of Mumbai life that rarely converge.

As the release date nears, anticipation builds among Khan’s fans and critics alike. The actor’s return, marked by his performances in ‘Heeramandi’ and now ‘Visfot,’ signals a new chapter in his career. With stories set in the bustling backdrop of Mumbai, Fardeen Khan is not just making a comeback; he’s making a statement.

‘Visfot’ promises to be an exciting addition to the Indian crime drama genre, offering raw and compelling narratives. Khan’s portrayal of Shoeb Khan underscores the depths of human struggle and resilience, making this upcoming release one to watch. As the film prepares to debut on an OTT platform, audiences everywhere eagerly await the intricate storytelling and robust performances that ‘Visfot’ pledges to deliver.
