‘Freaky Tales’ trailer: Pedro Pascal gets an offer he can’t refuse in this anthology

The trailer of Freaky Tales, the upcoming Hollywood anthology movie starring Pedro Pascal and Ben Mendelsohn, was unveiled by the makers on Tuesday (February 18). Directed by Captain Marvel director duo Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, the film is set to release in theatres on April 4.
The trailer opens with a voiceover by Pascal’s character Clint that goes, “The underdog thinks he can do the impossible: to feed the bully, sell enough mixtapes to get out of the hood. I can say with certainty, that this underdog has seen his last day.” We then see Clint being forced by his boss to go on one last heist — to steal a popular NBA star Sleepy Floyd’s ancient Asian artefacts. Pascal’s character declines the job, and chaos ensues. The trailer also intercuts to show American singer Normani perform at a club.
“Set in 1987 Oakland, Freaky Tales is a multi-track mixtape of colourful characters — an NBA star, a corrupt cop, a female rap duo, teen punks, neo-Nazis, and a debt collector — on a collision course in a fever dream of showdowns and battles,” reads the synopsis.
Freaky Tales features one of the final roles of late actor Angus Cloud. Also featured in the cast are Jay Ellis, Normani, Dominique Thorne, Jack Champion, and Ji-young Yoo. Tom Hanks reportedly appears in a cameo, as a video store owner.
Produced by eOne Films and MACRO Film Studios, Freaky Tales had its premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.
