Govinda’s Response After Accidental Shooting: Bullet Removed Recuperation Underway

Bollywood luminary and dance icon Govinda found himself in an unexpected and alarming situation earlier today when he unintentionally shot himself in the leg while handling his licensed revolver at his Mumbai residence. The actor, who was preparing to head out, was reportedly checking his firearm when the mishap occurred.

Pictures have surfaced showing Govinda in seemingly good spirits despite the accident. Only a few hours ago, updates emerged that the actor-politician had accidentally discharged the weapon, resulting in a bullet wound to his leg. Now, Govinda has broken his silence and offered his first public statement since the incident.

In his statement, Govinda reassured his fans and followers, “Namaskar, pranam, main hoon Govinda. Aap sabke aashirwad, mata-pita ke aashirwad aur guru ki kripa se, jo goli lagi thi, ab vah nikaal di gayi hai. Main yahaan ke Doctor Agarwal ji ka aur aap sabki duaon ka dhanyavaad deta hoon.” Translated, this means, “Namashkar, Pranam, I am Govinda. With all your blessings, the blessings of my parents, and the grace of my guru, the bullet that had hit me has now been removed. I want to express my gratitude to Dr. Agarwal here and to all of you for your prayers.”

The accident reportedly occurred as Govinda was securing the revolver in his cupboard. His manager, Shashi Sinha, provided further details to ANI over the phone, saying, “Govinda was getting ready to leave for Kolkata and was putting his licensed revolver back in the cupboard when it slipped from his hand, and the gun went off, hitting him in the leg. The doctor has removed the bullet, and his condition is stable. He is still in the hospital.”

Adding to this reassurance, a Mumbai Police official confirmed that while Govinda’s injury is not severe, he was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons to ensure there were no further complications.

A look back at Govinda’s illustrious career offers insights into the extraordinary journey of a man whose artistry has spanned decades. Born on December 21, 1963, as Govind Arun Ahuja (affectionately known as ‘Chichi’), Govinda hails from a lineage deeply rooted in Bollywood. His parents, Arun Kumar Ahuja and Nirmala Devi, were both actors. Arun Kumar Ahuja appeared in over 20 films in the 1940s and early 1950s and was prominently known for his role in Mehboob Khan’s 1940 film, “Aurat,” a precursor to the iconic and Oscar-nominated 1957 film “Mother India.

Govinda made a splash in the Bollywood scene with his 1986 debut film, “Ilzaam,” and has since carved a niche for himself, starring in over 140 films. He earned acclaim for his impeccable comic timing and vibrant dance numbers, which became his signature. Reflecting on his early career, Govinda has admitted to initially struggling with romantic scenes. In an old interview with mid-day, he recounted an experience from “Ilzaam,” where he felt nervous during a dance sequence with co-star Neelam. “I was not very good at romantic scenes. In my very first movie Ilzaam, there was a dance sequence where I was supposed to run and get close with my co-star Neelam, but I could not do it. I started shivering and started feeling feverish. Our choreographer Saroj Khan noticed it and she asked me if I ever had a girlfriend. I said no. She smiled and said she would teach me how to romance on screen,” Govinda shared.

Over the years, Govinda has delivered a string of box-office hits including “Hero No 1,” “Dulhe Raja,” “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,” “Raja Babu,” “Saajan Chale Sasural,” and “Partner.” Despite his fame and success, Govinda remains humble about his journey. “I never thought I would become so famous and people would shower their love and blessings. I hope this unconditional love continues. The actor is not a flop actor till the time he thinks he is finished. I have never been scared or felt I have failed. I don’t turn back and whatever the phase and time, I am still working and I will continue to do so,” Govinda has been quoted saying.
