‘Interstellar’: Christopher Nolan’s film sets record for biggest opening weekend for a Hollywood film re-release in India


“We must reach far beyond our own lifespans,” says a character in Christopher Nolan’s 2014 hit film Interstellar and in a way, the film has managed to do exactly that. A decade after its release,Interstellar was re-released in India recently and the film has once again shattered records.

According to INOX Movies, the film, which is having a limited run of seven days in theatres, has set a new record for the biggest opening weekend for a Hollywood film re-release in India.

Warner Bros. India’s X page also announced that Interstellar has managed to get the highest opening for an IMAX film re-released in India.

While the distributors are yet to release official numbers, it’s reported that Interstellar has easily surpassed the collections of Titanic’s 2023 re-release numbers which is said to have held the record.
Interstellar stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, and Michael Caine. The film follows a group of astronauts who travel through a wormhole in search of a new home for mankind after Earth suffers a major famine. Interstellar was nominated for five awards at the 87th Academy Awards, winning Best Visual Effects.
