Ishaan Khatter, the talented young actor who has been garnering much attention for his role in the recent series ‘The Perfect Couple’, has opened up in an interview, shedding light on several aspects of his personal and professional life. Known for his stellar performances and now stepping into international fame, Ishaan has worked hard to be where he is today. But his journey wasn’t always paved with gold. In fact, it was quite the opposite, with years of living in modest conditions that shaped his current worldview.
In an extensive conversation with ‘The Dirty Magazine’, Ishaan dismissed the common misconception that his life was always filled with glamour and luxury. The actor revealed that, contrary to public belief, his life was relatively modest until very recently. He had been through numerous relocations, shifting houses around 17 times before he finally settled into his latest abode.
What stands out in his revelation is the decade-long period he and his mother spent in a small apartment on Yari Road, Mumbai, bought by his elder half-brother, Shahid Kapoor. Ishaan mentioned that they moved into Cozy Apartments when he was just 16 years old, marking a significant phase in his life. The residence served as their home base for a full 10 years.
Reflecting on his life in Cozy Apartments, Ishaan shared, “Two years now in my new house. I’ve moved 17 times; this is the 18th house I’ve lived in. But it’s my first time alone. When I was 16, we moved to Cozy Apartments in Yari Road, which my brother was able to buy for us, so my mom and I lived there for 10 years. The lockdowns happened in that house, and it was a small place, like many apartments in Bombay. It was my mom, me, two other senior people, and two cats. It started feeling like a cage to me. Maybe that’s why, when I came here and saw the sea, I felt this is all I need.
.”
The impact of this experience on Ishaan’s outlook is palpable. He discussed how abundance was something he only started seeing and feeling in recent years. “Yeah, I mean, I was never miserable or anything, and I don’t like to talk about it, but I’ve seen my share. Abundance was not a thing I saw until very recently, contrary to what people might imagine. And there’s a lot of imagination out there,” he said. Through this reflection, Ishaan seemed to question the narratives often built around celebrity lifestyles, pointing out the stark reality behind the glamour.
Ishaan’s career has seen a rapid upward trajectory, bolstered significantly by his recent work. Currently creating waves with ‘The Perfect Couple’, a mystery drama series, Ishaan stars alongside heavyweights such as Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, and Dakota Fanning. The series, an adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand’s 2018 novel by the same name, delves into an intriguing plot where Amelia, the protagonist, is about to wed into the affluent Nantucket Winbury family against the matriarch’s wishes. The drama intensifies when a body is discovered on the beach, leading to buried secrets coming to light, turning everyone into a potential suspect.
Apart from ‘The Perfect Couple’, Ishaan has another notable project in the pipeline, ‘The Royals’. This upcoming series boasts a star-studded cast including Bhumi Pednekar, Zeenat Aman, Sakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi, Chunky Panday, Dino Morea, and Milind Soman. Directed by Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana, the ensemble cast also features Vihaan Samat, Kavya Trehan, Sumukhi Suresh, Udit Arora, Lisa Mishra, and Luke Kenny.
These projects not only highlight Ishaan’s versatility but also mark significant milestones in his career. They represent the culmination of years of perseverance and resilience, developed during the times when he felt confined within the four walls of his modest apartment.
As Ishaan continues to rise through the ranks in the entertainment industry, his story serves as an inspiring tale of hard work and humble beginnings. His recent reflections provide a window into the sacrifices and challenges faced by many before achieving success, reminding us all that true abundance comes not from opulence, but from perseverance and the journey itself.
