New Delhi: Actress Janhvi Kapoor recently visited Delhi to promote her upcoming film, Mr. & Mrs. Mahi, alongside co-star Rajkummar Rao. The highly-anticipated movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on May 31, 2024. In a candid interaction, Kapoor spoke about her experience during the shoot and her cherished moments in Delhi.
“Delhi always feels like home,” Janhvi shared with a sense of nostalgia. “The last time I was here, I was promoting Dhadak.” She further added, “Rajkummar is shooting for another movie in Varanasi, which is why he couldn’t join me for the promotions.”
Discussing the rigorous preparation for her role, Janhvi revealed, “I was around 8-9 kgs heavier before starting this project. To convincingly portray a cricketer, I had to follow a strict fitness regime. It was certainly challenging but equally rewarding. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.”
When asked about her favorite cricketer, Janhvi was quick to respond: “Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He has always been my favorite.”
Mr. & Mrs. Mahi, directed by Sharan Sharma and written by Sharma and Nikhil Mehrotra, is one of the most talked-about films of the year. The trailer, which was released a few days ago, has already generated significant excitement among cinema-goers. . I had early morning workout sessions focusing on strength and endurance, followed by practice on the field to get the cricketing skills right. Even dietary changes were crucial. It wasn’t just about losing weight but gaining the right kind of strength and agility.”
She continued, “This role pushed my boundaries, both physically and mentally. There were days I doubted myself, but the support from the team kept me going.” Reflecting on the shoot, she shared some light-hearted moments. “We had our share of fun too. Rajkummar and I would often challenge each other, be it on the sets or during practice sessions. It created a healthy, competitive spirit.”
The actress also touched upon the camaraderie with her co-star Rajkummar Rao. “Rajkummar is an exceptional actor and an even better co-star. His dedication is contagious. Working with him has always been a learning experience.”
As for the directorial vision, Janhvi has high praise for Sharan Sharma. “Sharan has a unique way of storytelling. He knows how to bring out the best in his actors. His vision for Mr. & Mrs. Mahi is evident in every frame, every scene.”
