On Saturday, the BJP leader and prominent actress Kangana Ranaut vented her frustrations on social media, condemning the support shown for a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable who allegedly slapped her at Chandigarh airport. The incident has sparked heated exchanges and drawn widespread attention, putting Ranaut in the center of yet another controversy.
Kangana posted her strong opinions on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, where she criticized not just the CISF constable, Kulwinder Kaur, but also those who voiced their support for her. According to Ranaut, the constable assaulted her without her permission, an act she likened to other severe crimes like rape and murder, arguing that such violations always come with some form of justification or impulse that cannot be condoned.
Kangana’s message read, “Every rapist, murderer, or thief always has a strong emotional, physical, psychological, or financial reason to commit a crime. No crime ever happens without a reason, yet they are convicted and sentenced to jail. If you are aligned with the criminal’s strong emotional impulse to commit a crime violating all laws of the land, then you’re complicit.”
“Remember, if you are okay with breaking into someone’s intimate zone, touching their bodies, and assaulting them without their permission, then deep down you are okay with rape or murder as well. Because that’s also just penetration or a stab. What’s the big deal? You must look deeper into your psychological criminal tendencies,” she further elaborated.
She urged her followers to engage in self-reflection, yoga, and meditation, suggesting these as remedies to combat negative traits such as grudge, hate, and jealousy. “Free yourself from these burdens,” she advised.
The controversy erupted earlier this week when it was reported that Ranaut, two days after being elected as a BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi, was allegedly slapped by the CISF constable at the Chandigarh airport. Ranaut was en route to Delhi for a UK707 flight when she allegedly got into an argument with Kaur at the security checkpoint. According to the claims, the altercation escalated when Ranaut refused to place her mobile phone in the security tray, leading to Kaur slapping her.
.
Ranaut proceeded to Delhi, where she met with CISF Director General Nina Singh and other high-ranking officials to narrate her version of the incident. In a video shared on X, the turmoil following the episode is evident, capturing the chaos inside the airport. Ranaut stands by her account, asserting that Kaur became upset and physically assaulted her at the checkpoint.
Eyewitnesses also suggested that Kaur’s actions might have been motivated by her dissatisfaction with some of Ranaut’s earlier remarks on the farmers’ protests. These comments had generated significant backlash and polarized opinions across the country, possibly fueling the tension at the airport.
Kulwinder Kaur, the CISF constable involved in the encounter, has been detained and questioned at the CISF Commandant Office. This incident has triggered vigorous debates across social media platforms, with factions emerging both in support of and against the actions of the CISF personnel involved.
For those backing Kaur, the incident is being seen in terms of protocol adherence and disciplinary action by security forces. Others argue that regardless of the provocation or procedure, physical assault cannot be justified and equated to direct violation of human rights and personal space. This sentiment echoes various legalities surrounding the definitions and repercussions of unauthorized physical contact.
As the investigation continues, the discourse around this controversy has intensified, touching on larger issues of authority, personal boundaries, and the responsibilities of public figures and security forces. Kangana Ranaut, known for her outspoken nature, remains at the forefront, defending her stance and unequivocally condemning the support for what she perceives as criminal behavior.
The incident and its fallout serve as a reminder of how quickly events can escalate in public spaces, impacting not just the individuals involved, but also sparking national debates. As more details emerge, the focus will likely remain on discerning the facts, honoring lawful conduct, and ensuring that such incidents are prevented in the future.
