Kangana Ranaut Criticizes Praise for CISF Constable’s Actions

Renowned actor and politician Kangana Ranaut has voiced fierce criticism against those who have praised a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) woman constable who allegedly slapped her during a security check at Chandigarh airport. Ms. Ranaut has drawn sharp comparisons between this alleged approval of her mistreatment and the societal justifications that are sometimes given for heinous crimes such as rape and murder.

In a video message this past Thursday, the 37-year-old actor shared that the constable not only slapped her but also verbally abused her. She implied that the aggression might have been triggered by her outspoken stance on the farmer protests. According to Ms. Ranaut, the incident is emblematic of deeper issues within society regarding consent and personal boundaries.

“If you are aligned with the criminals strong emotional impulse to commit a crime violating all laws of the land,” Ms. Ranaut declared. She further posted on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, stating, “Remember if you are ok with breaking in to someone’s intimate zone, without their permission touching their bodies and assaulting them then deep down you are ok with rape or murder also because that’s also just penetration or stab only what big deal, you must look deeper in to your psychological criminal tendencies (sic).”

The incident reportedly took place during a routine security check, which soon escalated into a physical altercation, fracturing the peace at Chandigarh airport. Two days before this incident, Ms. Ranaut had been elected to the Lok Sabha from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.

Kulwinder Kaur, the CISF constable in question, has since been suspended as the CISF initiates an investigation into the incident. Moreover, the security organization responsible for maintaining airport safety has ordered a court of inquiry to delve further into the matter. The incident has sparked a heated debate over the actions and jurisdiction of security personnel.

In her latest social media post, Ms. Ranaut also advised people to focus on self-improvement through activities like yoga and meditation, suggesting that harboring negative emotions like grudge, hate, and jealousy can make life a burdensome experience. She wrote, “Don’t carry so much grudge, hate, and jealousy, please, free yourself.

Amidst the backlash and controversy, Kangana Ranaut has found support from veteran actress Shabana Azmi. Despite stating that she does not hold any personal affinity towards Ms. Ranaut, Ms. Azmi condemned the constable’s actions and cautioned against security officials taking the law into their own hands. In her post on X, Ms. Azmi remarked, “I have no love lost for Kangana Ranaut. But I can’t find myself joining this chorus of celebrating ‘the slap’. If security personnel start taking law into their hands, none of us can be safe.”

Notably, Shabana Azmi’s husband, Javed Akhtar, a distinguished screenwriter and lyricist, has an ongoing defamation lawsuit against Ms. Ranaut following her allegations that he had threatened her. This legal conflict adds another layer of complexity to the already emotionally charged scenario.

The controversy has reignited discussions on the boundaries of acceptable behavior by security personnel and the balance of power between public figures and those responsible for their safety. Ms. Ranaut’s pointed remarks and her comparison of the incident to severe crimes have raised questions about societal attitudes towards personal space and integrity.

This incident highlights the duality of respect and authority, suggesting a need to reevaluate how confrontations and misunderstandings are handled in high-security situations. As investigations continue, the case remains a focal point for debates on ethics, legality, and societal norms in India.

In summary, Kangana Ranaut’s criticism of the praise for the CISF constable has opened a wide-ranging discourse on law enforcement, personal boundaries, and societal attitudes towards violence and misconduct. While her experiences have drawn sympathy from some quarters, others believe this incident will have far-reaching consequences on how security protocols are executed and perceived in the future.
