Mumbai: While Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut eagerly awaits approval from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for her upcoming movie ‘Emergency’, a new cinematic venture has been unveiled. On Tuesday, well-known trade analyst Taran Adarsh announced via social media platform X that Ranaut has been cast as the lead in ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’.

Directed and penned by Manoj Tapadia, the movie promises to delve into the lives of unsung heroes, the blue-collar workers whose tireless efforts are the backbone of society. It’s a narrative focused on celebrating the contributions of these everyday individuals who work behind the scenes to keep the nation running.

The production of ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’ is spearheaded by Babita Ashiwal from Eunoia Films and Adi Sharmaa from Floating Rocks Entertainment. Speaking about the collaboration with Kangana, Ashiwal expressed her excitement: “Working on this project has been incredibly rewarding. Our goal is to create content that captivates our audience. With Kangana on board, we are confident the movie will strike the right chord.”

As per the film’s creators, they are determined to bring to the forefront the invaluable contributions of India’s working class. Ashiwal continued, “These are the people without whom the country would cease to function—the working-class heroes. We’re focusing on their stories, their struggles, and their triumphs.”

. The film explores the controversial 21-month emergency period imposed in India from 1975 to 1977. Despite earlier reports suggesting that the movie had received CBFC clearance, Ranaut recently used social media to reveal that ‘Emergency’ is still awaiting certification.

“There have been rumors circulating that my film ‘Emergency’ has been certified by the Censor Board. This is not true. While our film did receive clearance from the CBFC, the certification was on hold due to numerous death threats against members of the censor board,” Ranaut disclosed. This revelation has fueled a storm of speculation and concern among fans and critics alike.

The cinematic portrayal of the emergency period includes sensitive historical events, such as the assassination of Indira Gandhi and the Punjab riots, which have reportedly attracted considerable backlash. “There is pressure being put on us to remove certain scenes, such as the assassination of Indira Gandhi, the Punjab riots, and more,” said Ranaut. “Now, I don’t know what else to show. What are we supposed to do—blackout the film during these scenes? This is unbelievable to me, and I am deeply sorry for the current state of thinking in this country,” she continued, highlighting the challenges faced in bringing such a politically charged narrative to the screen.

‘Emergency’ also features notable performances from Anupam Kher and the late Satish Kaushik. Initially slated for release on September 6, the film’s debut remains uncertain as the certification process drags on. The postponement has left many fans and cinephiles in a state of anticipation.

As Kangana picks up her next significant role in ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’, she continues to navigate the turbulent waters of the Indian film industry. With ‘Emergency’ in limbo and a new film on the horizon, the coming months promise to be significant for the actress both career-wise and in her mission to bring impactful stories to the forefront.

The storylines of both films serve to remind audiences of the powerful influence cinema can wield, drawing attention to historical events and celebrating ordinary individuals who exemplify extraordinary resilience. As Bollywood continues to evolve, such narratives underscore the industry’s potential to both entertain and enlighten.

For now, fans await Kangana Ranaut’s return to the silver screen, eager to witness her portrayal of real-life events and ordinary heroes through her two transformative projects.
