In a recent legal development that has grippingly unfolded in Mumbai, the actress Shinnova, notable for her role in ‘Hiccups and Hookups’, has initiated a civil suit against the esteemed actor and politician Ravi Kishan, asserting that he is her biological father. This sensational case, which has grabbed headlines, came into the spotlight when the 25-year-old actress beseeched a local court on Saturday to recognize her alleged paternal link to the Bollywood artist and Member of Parliament representing Gorakhpur from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
As the news agency PTI reports, the young actress has not only called for Ravi Kishan to be judicially acknowledged as her father but has also requested a DNA test to corroborate her claims. In a dramatic twist, Shinnova seeks a permanent injunction that would legally prohibit Kishan from denying their relationship.
Adding to the entangled series of events, Shinnova has submitted a writ petition to the Bombay High Court with the aim to discard a First Information Report (FIR) lodged against her mother, Aparna Soni, and other individuals in Uttar Pradesh. This occurred consequent to a press conference they conducted in the state capital of Lucknow. The FIR filed on the behest of Kishan’s wife, Priti Shukla, includes grave allegations under the Indian Penal Code, such as criminal conspiracy, fabrication of false evidence, extortion, and intentional insult.
The plot thickens when, as per Shinnova’s legal plea, it is revealed that Aparna Soni and Ravi Kishan reportedly entered a matrimonial relationship in 1991, although it was short-lived due to undisclosed personal issues. The young actress’s birth on October 19, 1998, shed light on Ravi Kishan’s pre-existing marital status, leading to an apparently mutual decision that henceforth Shinnova would address the actor as “uncle”.
Allegations have emerged claiming that during a recent encounter with Ravi Kishan, wherein Shinnova and her mother intended to extend goodwill gestures for his Lok Sabha election campaign, Kishan allegedly behaved inappropriately and declined to meet them. This purported incident prompted the press conference that led to the controversial FIR.
With the court proceeding in the Dindoshi court slated for April 25, the legal battle is expected to draw significant attention. Concurrently, the writ petition is set to be presented before the Bombay High Court in the upcoming week.
In the world of entertainment, Ravi Kishan, a stalwart of Hindi and Bhojpuri cinema, recently graced the screen in ‘Maamla Legal Hai’, which has garnered a renewal for a second season. Streaming on Netflix, the show also stars Naila Grewal, Anant V Joshi, and Brijendra Kala in critical roles. Additionally, audiences witnessed his performance in ‘Laapataa Ladies’, a film directed by Kiran Rao.
Shinnova, on the other hand, has carved her niche with the series ‘Hiccups and Hookups’, sharing screen space with the likes of Prateik Babbar, Lara Dutta, Meiyang Chang, and Meera Chopra.
As the legal drama unfolds, it mirrors the complexities and intertwined personal and public lives that often characterize the entertainment industry. This case is particularly intriguing due to the crossroads of cinema and politics, with serious implications for everyone involved. While the court has yet to hear the full details of the case and issue a verdict, the controversy will undoubtedly bring intense scrutiny to the lives of both Shinnova and Ravi Kishan.
