Manushi Chhillar Discusses Working With Akshay Kumar Despite Age Difference in New Film

The newly released cinematic venture, ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,’ which graced the big screens on April 11, 2024, is a unique blend of action and camaraderie, featuring the talents of Bollywood’s elite like Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, and former Miss World Manushi Chhillar. For Chhillar, this film marks her second partnership with Akshay Kumar, following their earlier project ‘Samrat Prithviraj,’ under the distinguished direction of Chandraprakash Dwivedi. The public’s eye has, however, been caught not just by the movie’s promising thrill but also by the apparent age difference between Chhillar and Kumar.

In response to the buzzing social media conversations about this age gap, Manushi Chhillar clarified her position in a recent Zoom interview. She stated, “Working with a superstar is good. You get a certain amount of visibility. If I talk about my first film, there was an age gap. They wanted to play the whole thing. In this film, there was no pairing. We did songs for marketing. There had to be a way to put two people together for the songs, but that’s pretty much it, which is fine. I don’t see it as something that was atrocious or something that shouldn’t have been there. It wasn’t like a love story anyway.” Such a pragmatic approach by Chhillar hints at a maturity beyond her years and an understanding of the industry’s mechanics.

Apart from the performances of the prominent actors, ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ is also significant for advancing Chhillar’s career into diverse roles. After her vibrant portrayal in the historical drama ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ and her daring stints in action films like ‘Operation Valentine,’ the beauty queen-turned-actress is set to conquer the genre of comedy. According to the latest reports, Chhillar will add a jovial touch to her resume by joining the star-studded lineup of ‘No Entry Mein Entry’, the much-awaited sequel to the 2005 laugh riot ‘No Entry’.

The comedic arena will not be Chhillar’s only exploration. She is reportedly set to share the screen with Bollywood favorites Arjun Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh in the ‘No Entry’ sequel. While the film industry is abuzz with anticipation, this collaboration signifies multiple firsts for Chhillar: her debut comedy role, her initial on-screen appearance with dynamos like Kriti Sanon and Shraddha Kapoor, as well as her first venture with Arjun, Varun, and Diljit. There’s speculation that these roles will not just be cameos but pivotal contributions to the narrative.

‘No Entry’, which laid the groundwork for the sequel, was directed by Anees Bazmee and starred Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, and Fardeen Khan. It wasn’t merely a film release; it was a phenomenon that clinched the title of the highest-grossing film of the year and cemented its status in Bollywood’s cult comedy repertoire. Naturally, the bar is set high for ‘No Entry Mein Entry’, but with a cast ensemble characterized by both youth and experience, the expectation is that this sequel will not only meet but exceed its predecessor’s incredible legacy.

Reflecting on her steadily ascending career graph, Manushi Chhillar represents a generation of actors who are not confined to stereotypical roles based on their physical attributes or public persona. Instead, their career choices are driven by versatility and a desire to push the boundaries of their craft. In doing so, Chhillar is setting a precedent for future artists, proving that with determination and adaptability, there are no limits to what one can achieve in the ever-changing and ever-challenging world of cinema.
