Mukesh Chhabra Drops Hints on Cast of Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana

New Delhi: The anticipation around the upcoming cinematic retelling of the epic Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, has been steadily growing. This adaptation, spearheaded by director Nitesh Tiwari, promises to deliver a visually and emotionally compelling portrayal of the ancient Indian epic. The recent reveal of Ranbir Kapoor’s transformation into Lord Ram has left audiences eager for more details about the cast and the progression of the film. Mukesh Chhabra, the casting director for this highly anticipated project, has shared some intriguing insights in a candid conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia.

Ranbir Kapoor’s first look as Lord Ram had already generated a buzz in the industry and among fans. Mukesh Chhabra shed light on why the decision to cast Kapoor in this iconic role was almost a foregone conclusion for director Nitesh Tiwari. “Bhai had decided to cast Ranbir very early in the process, and once you watch the film, you’ll see why it’s such apt casting. I think the actors I’ve worked with the most in my career are Ranbir and Rajkummar Rao. Nobody can beat Ranbir when it comes to acting… He’s very neutral about it. He doesn’t bother too much about hits and flops. All he’s concerned about is acting,” Chhabra revealed.

In what is becoming an increasingly common practice in Bollywood, the role of Lakshman drew attention after several actors declined the offer. Mukesh Chhabra shared that it took several rounds of auditions to find the perfect actor to play Lakshman. “We’ve found a lovely actor for Lakshman. A lot of people auditioned for the role. But I’m very happy with the actor we’ve gone with, this is going to be his first film in Bollywood. It was the last role we cast. We’ve chosen a young actor who has worked a lot in television; he’s a lovely guy. We couldn’t have found a better Lakshman.

. I’m very happy that the people we’d initially approached all said no. Two or three people said no, because they think that Ram and Lakshman will always have to be together,” Chhabra explained.

This casting decision, while initially challenging, ultimately led to an exciting selection for the role of Lakshman, with an up-and-coming actor making his Bollywood debut. This new talent, who has honed his acting skills on television, is expected to bring fresh energy and a novel dimension to Lakshman’s character.

The buzz continues with reports that suggest veteran actor Sunny Deol will take on the powerful and beloved role of Hanuman. Known for his robust screen presence and emotional depth, Deol is expected to bring gravitas and passion to the role of the devoted monkey god. Additionally, Yash, the Kannada superstar, will be portraying the antagonist Raavan, adding another layer of intensity to the narrative with his dynamic portrayal skills. The talented Sai Pallavi has also been roped in to play Sita, ensuring that the feminine grace and strength associated with this revered character are exemplified.

Mukesh Chhabra’s involvement in casting for the film reflects his meticulous approach and commitment to finding actors who not only fit the roles but also elevate the storytelling experience. His insights into the casting process offer a rare glimpse behind the screen, revealing the thoughtful consideration that goes into assembling a cast for such an epic.
