In a heartfelt message released on social media, renowned actor NTR Jr has voiced his deep concern and sorrow regarding the recent earthquakes that shook Japan during his stay in the country.
The popular actor had been visiting Japan over the past week and returned home on Tuesday, whereupon he immediately took to his social media platform to express his emotions, stating, “Back home today from Japan and deeply shocked by the earthquakes hitting. Spent the entire last week there, and my heart goes out to everyone affected. Grateful for the resilience of the people and hoping for a swift recovery. Stay strong, Japan.”
The sincerity of his words resonated profoundly with his fans and the broader online community, as evidenced by the flood of supportive responses in the comment section of his post. Many expressed relief at his safe return and extended their own thoughts and prayers towards those impacted by the natural disaster in Japan.
This series of seismic events began with a powerful tremor, measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale, which struck on New Year’s evening in Ishikawa Prefecture. According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred off the Noto Peninsula at around 4:10 p.m. local time and originated 10 kilometers underground.
Authorities cautioned residents and the international community that strong aftershocks were probable in the subsequent week, particularly in the initial two to three days following the quake. National broadcaster NHK World highlighted the possibility of these aftershocks and informed that a major tsunami warning had been put in place for the affected prefecture.
Despite the severity of the initial earthquake and concerns over aftershocks, Japan’s Meteorological Agency eventually lifted all tsunami advisories along the Sea of Japan coast. Numerous towns within Ishikawa Prefecture reported experiencing tsunami waves, with heights surpassing 120 centimeters in Wajima and reaching 90 centimeters in Kanazawa. Similar reports came from other prefectures adjoining the sea.
The natural disaster caused substantial damage, particularly in Wajima City, where a fire erupted soon after the earthquake, destroying over 100 buildings, including stores and homes, as covered by NHK World. The conflagration devastated a popular tourist attraction known for its traditional marketplace and obliterated a seven-story building completely.
In light of these tragic developments, NTR Jr’s message of support is all the more valuable. His emotional connection to Japan and its people has been clear, and his hope for their swift recovery echoes the sentiments of many around the world who were stunned by the news of the quake.
As NTR Jr turns his attention back to professional matters post-trip, he is prepping for the much-anticipated release of his upcoming film ‘Devara’. Teasers for the new film have spurred excitement among his audience, showcasing the actor in a fierce new role. Directed by Koratala Siva and also starring Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, the film is set in coastal landscapes and is to be released in two parts, with the first installment debuting on April 5.
Nevertheless, the recent disaster in Japan and the actor’s heartfelt response underscore the universal compassion felt in the wake of such natural calamities. As Japan rallies to recover from the earthquake, messages of solidarity like those shared by NTR Jr offer comfort and strength to all those affected.
