Suriya 44, Tamil actor Suriya’s upcoming film with director Karthik Subbaraj, is titled Retro. The makers of the film made the announcement on the occasion of Christmas.
The makers took to social media to release a 136-second title teaser featuring the film’s lead cast, Suriya and Pooja Hegde, and offering a glimpse of the rest of the cast members. The teaser shows the lead pair sitting on the steps of Chet Singh Ghat, Varanasi, with Suriya’s character promising Pooja that he will become a better person.
The video also fleetingly shows us how the man trying to reform had a past life in which he indulged in thuggery and other anti-social activities. The rest of the film’s cast, including Joju George, Karunakaran, Jayaram, Nassar, Sujith Shankar, and Prakash Raj, are also seen in the glimpse.
With Santhosh Narayanan as the music composer, the film’s crew features cinematographer Shreyaas Krishna, editor Shafique Mohamed, art director Jackson, action choreographer Kecha Khamphakdee, and costume designer Praveen Raja.
Karthik is also co-producing the film under his Stone Bench Films banner along with Suriya’s 2D Entertainment. The film’s shooting has been completed in four schedules across Andaman, Ooty, Kerala, and Chennai, and post-production work is currently underway. The video also confirmed that the film will release in summer 2025.
