Robert Pattinson joins Bong Joon Ho in Seoul for ‘Mickey 17’ press event

Robert Pattinson and Bong Joon Ho promoted their upcoming project Mickey 17 in Seoul with a bang. The duo took the audience by storm during the first official press event for the movie, held in the Korean capital on Monday, as reported by Deadline.
This sci-fi drama marks Korean director Bong’s first feature since his 2019 Palme d’Or and quadruple Oscar-winning film Parasite. The highly anticipated project has been in the works for some time, with filming completed in December 2022. Initially slated for a March 29, 2024, release, the film will now have its world premiere at the Berlinale in February. It is set to open theatrically in Korea on February 28, followed by a U.S. release on March 7 through Warner Bros.
“It’s exciting to have the honor of premiering Mickey 17 in Korea before it hits cinemas worldwide in March,” the director said at a press conference held at Seoul’s Yongsan CGV cinema.

This visit marked Pattinson’s first trip to Korea, where he was welcomed by hundreds of fans upon arrival at Incheon Airport. “I’m just so happy people are excited about the movie. It has been a long road to this release, and seeing people excited, holding posters, and wanting them signed—it’s thrilling,” he said.
The star of Twilight, The Batman, and Tenet said he was puzzled that this was his first promotional tour in Korea. “I don’t understand how I’ve never come to Seoul for other movies. I’ve always wanted to visit. I know a lot of fun people who live here, and I wanted to reconnect with them,” he added, referring to Bong and his producing team.
The film, based on Edward Ashton’s novel of the same name, features an ensemble cast that includes Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo.
