Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who is awaiting his Eid release Sikandar, has addressed concerns about the 31-year age gap he has with the film’s female lead, Rashmika Mandanna.
At the grand trailer launch of the AR Murugadoss-directorial, the host complimented the 59-year-old superstar for his looks, after which, Salman said, “At times, I don’t sleep for six to seven nights. Then, when those social media people start chasing me, I have to show them that I still got it.”
He then went on to address the criticism he has been facing for romancing the 28-year-old Rashmika in the film. “Then they say there’s a 31-year age gap between me and the heroine. But if the heroine has no problem, and even her father is okay with it, why do you have a problem, brother? When she gets married and has a daughter, and when that daughter becomes a star, I will work with her too. Her mother’s (Rashmika’s) permission will be sorted,” he said.

Salman also praised Rashmika, stating she gave her best for the film. “She used to finish shooting Pushpa 2 at 7, would join us at 9, would work till 6:30 in the morning and go back to work on Pushpa 2. Then after breaking her leg, she continued shooting with us and didn’t cancel a single day of shoot. She reminds me a lot of younger me,” said Salman.
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Sikandar is set to hit the screens on March 30 on the occasion of Eid. The trailer released on Sunday shows Salman as Sanjay Rajkot and Rashmika as Saisri. Also starring Kajal Aggarwal, the film features veteran Tamil actor Sathyaraj as Minister Pradhan. Sunil Shetty, Sharman Joshi, Kishore and Prateik Babbar form the rest of the cast.
Earlier last week, the makers of Sikandar released the first single, ‘Sikandar Naache,’ to much fanfare. The song, featuring Salman and Rashmika, has garnered almost 40 million views on YouTube as of now.
