Director SS Rajamouli has completed the Odisha schedule of his upcoming film, SSMB29, starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The schedule was filmed in the scenic Koraput district, with key action sequences shot at Talamali Hilltop in Semiliguda.
Following the wrap-up, Rajamouli shared a video of his solo trek to Deomali, Odisha’s highest peak. He described the view as “breathtaking” but also voiced disappointment over the litter left behind by trekkers. “Such pristine wonders deserve better. A little civic sense can make a huge difference… Every visitor should carry back their waste to help protect these places,” he wrote.

On Tuesday, Rajamouli was greeted by hundreds of fans as he concluded the schedule. Local self-help groups presented him with handmade gifts, and Pottangi MLA Ramachandra Kadam gifted a millet-based product. A handwritten note attributed to Rajamouli thanking the people of Koraput has been widely shared on social media. The note reads, “Dear Koraput, Thank you for the warm hospitality. Looking forward to many such adventures. With love from the sets of SSMB29.”
The Odisha government has expressed appreciation for the film being shot in the state, noting that it will help promote Koraput as a potential film tourism destination. Security around the set was tightened after early leaks, and the district administration provided extensive support for the production.
SSMB29 is described as a globe-trotting jungle adventure and marks Rajamouli’s first collaboration with Mahesh Babu. The film’s release date is yet to be announced.
