Three fans of Kannada film actor Yash electrocuted while erecting banner for star’s birthday in Gadag district

In a heartbreaking incident that has cast a shadow over what was meant to be a time of celebration, three youthful admirers of renowned Kannada film actor Yash lost their lives to electrocution. The fans were engaged in putting up an enormous banner in honor of the actor’s birthday when the tragedy occurred in their village in Gadag district, shortly after midnight on Sunday. Additionally, three individuals were injured in this unfortunate event.

This sorrowful event took place in Suranagi village located in the Laxmeshwar taluk of Gadag district. The dedicated fans, hailing from Ambedkar Nagar, were in the midst of erecting a colossal banner to wish their beloved “hero” on his natal day.

The banner, constructed with a metal frame, tragically came into contact with a high voltage power line running overhead, leading to the fatal electrocution. Out of the victims, two young men succumbed to the high voltage electrical current on the scene, while the third was pronounced dead after being rushed to a local hospital in the town of Laxmeshwar.

The deceased fans have been identified by authorities as Hanumanth Harijan, aged 21, Murali Naduvinamani, 20 years old, and Naveen Gaji, who was just 19. Following this incident, three other individuals are currently receiving medical care at the hospital.

Eyewitness accounts provided to law enforcement suggest that in the darkness of the night, the fans did not perceive the perilous high tension wire strung across the road. The celebration was intended for the following Monday, marking actor Yash’s birthday.

In the wake of the tragedy, the Chief Minister of the state, Siddramaiah, has declared a compensation of ₹ 2 lakh to be bestowed upon the families of each of the three fallen fans.

Upon hearing about the devastating news, Yash immediately made his way to Hubballi and proceeded to Suranagi village by road on Monday evening. In a gesture of compassion, he met with the bereft families, offering condolences and pledging his full support during their time of need.

Addressing the press later on, Yash issued a poignant plea to his fan base, urging them to prioritize their well-being above all else. “Don’t lose your lives for the craze you have for us film stars. Act responsibly,” the actor stated, and strongly appealed for the discontinuation of the practice of banner erection to honor celebrities.

Earlier, notable individuals like MLA Chandru Lamani of Shirahatti and the Deputy Commissioner of Gadag, Vaishali M.L., dropped in to visit the village. They took the time to offer their sympathies to the deceased’s families and to check up on the condition of those who were injured during the incident.

The news of this calamity has sent ripples of grief through the community and the wider fan base of the celebrated actor. Tributes and expressions of sorrow have been pouring in from all corners as the actor’s supporters come to terms with the jarring loss of three young lives, all united by their common admiration for Yash. The incident highlights not only the perils of unsafe practices during public celebrations but also the profound impact that actors and public figures have on their fans, often inspiring a level of devotion that can sometimes lead to such tragic outcomes. It serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety precautions in all public activities and the need for greater awareness about the risks involved.
