The makers of Thudarumhave released the film’s trailer. The Malayalam film stars veteran actors Mohanlal and Shobhana. Directed by Tharun Moorthy, Thudarum is bankrolled by M Renjith under the banner Rejaputhra Visual Media.
Thudarum brings back Mohanlal and Shobhana after 15 years on the big screen. The evergreen pair, known for hit films such as Nadodikattu (1987), Minnaram (1994), Manichitrathazhu (1993), Thenmavin Kombath (1994), Pakshe (1994), and Maya Mayuram (1993), is back in the movie, which promises fun, suspense and nostalgia.
Mohanlal plays Shanmugham, a taxi driver who is in love with his black ambassador. Shobana plays his wife. The two are seen sharing several charming moments in the trailer. The trailer ends on a mysterious note as we see a change in the attitude of Shanmugham, who seems to have lost his car.
The makers of Thudarum have created the film’s poster, having the vintage look of Mohanlal and Shobana, using AI. The trailer has been released a day before Mohanlal’s magnum opus, L2: Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. The pan-Indian film, produced by Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions, hits the screens on March 27, 2025.

Thudarum is written by Tharun Moorthy and KR Sunil. The film has been edited by the late Nishadh Yusuf and Shafeeque VB. Nishadh, a seasoned Malayalam editor, who also worked for Suriya’s Kanguva, was found dead at his residence in Kochi in November last year.
Jakes Bejoy has composed the music for the movie while Shaji Kumar is the cinematographer. Tharun Moorthy is known for acclaimed films such as Operation Javaand Saudi Vellakka. The release date of Thudarum is yet to be announced.
