An advocate from Hyderabad has approached the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre alleging that actors Nandamuri Balakrishna, Tottempudi Gopichand and Uppalapati Venkata Surya Narayana Prabhas Raju, popularly known as Prabhas, have been promoting a Chinese betting application called ‘Fun88’.
The complaint, filed by advocate Rama Rao Immaneni, accuses the actors of misleading the public by endorsing the banned app, leading to financial losses for many users.
According to the complaint, Fun88, which is accessible via Google Chrome, has allegedly duped lakhs of people by luring them into playing online games, resulting in financial losses. The money was reportedly routed through mule accounts. The advocate has cited violations under the Telangana Gaming (Amendment) Act 2017, and the Digital Media Ethics Code, urging authorities to block public access to the application.
The complaint further states that the promotion of the betting app poses a threat to national security. Legal action has been sought against the actors under Section 66F(B) of the Information Technology Act, along with other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The complainant has also submitted supporting evidence, including links and images, to substantiate his allegations.
