Veteran BJP Leader Lal Krishna Advani Discharged from AIIMS Delhi

Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani, aged 96, has been discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi, a hospital official confirmed on Thursday. The former Deputy Prime Minister was admitted late last night for a thorough evaluation, following which he underwent a minor medical procedure.

The medical team at AIIMS, which included specialists in urology and geriatric medicine, evaluated Advani for a series of age-related health issues. “Advani was admitted for old age-related issues and has been discharged,” the AIIMS official noted. The veteran leader had been admitted to the old private ward of the prestigious medical institute at approximately 10:30 pm on Wednesday.

Though details of the minor procedure have not been disclosed, it is understood that it was necessary to address some of the health concerns linked to Advani’s advanced age. For a political figure of his stature, regular medical check-ups and treatments are vital to ensure his well-being, especially given his significant contributions to Indian politics over the decades.

Lal Krishna Advani is a name synonymous with the BJP’s rise in Indian politics. Born on November 8, 1927, Advani was one of the founding members of the BJP, a party that he helped to build from the ground up alongside other stalwarts like Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Throughout his extensive political career, Advani has held multiple key positions, including serving as the Deputy Prime Minister under Vajpayee’s leadership from 2002 to 2004.

Furthermore, Advani has been instrumental in shaping the BJP’s ideology and strategy, particularly during the 1980s and 1990s, a period that saw the party’s transformation from a minor player in Indian politics to one of the country’s dominant forces. As a member of Parliament (MP) for numerous terms, his voice has resonated in both houses, impacting legislative decisions and national debates.

His legacy extends beyond political strategies and election victories. Advani’s commitment to his vision of India and his principled stance on various issues have earned him respect across the political spectrum. Although his active participation in day-to-day politics has reduced, his influence within the BJP and his role as a mentor to many current leaders remain undeniable.

The news of Advani’s hospitalization had caused a ripple of concern among his admirers and followers.
