Nita Mukesh Ambani Junior School Clinches U-12 Division-II Football Title

In a thrilling conclusion to the MSSA inter-school football tournament, Nita Mukesh Ambani Junior School from Bandra emerged victorious, claiming the coveted U-12 Division-II title. This win was secured thanks to a crucial goal scored by the tenacious midfielder, Olivia Harris. The final, held on Friday at the renowned MSSA ground in Azad Maidan, showcased a highly competitive match between Nita Mukesh Ambani Junior School and Jamnabai Narsee International School from Juhu.

The match kicked off with both teams displaying commendable skills and determination. However, it was Nita Mukesh Ambani Junior School that consistently demonstrated superiority in creating goal-scoring opportunities. Just seven minutes into the game, Olivia Harris became the match’s unwavering hero. With remarkable composure, she executed a stunning strike that found the top corner of the net, following an impressive single-handed run through the midfield. Harris’s goal provided her team with the crucial lead they maintained until the final whistle.

Despite the narrow scoreline, the margin could have been much wider in favor of Nita Mukesh Ambani Junior School. The Bandra-based girls squandered numerous opportunities to extend their lead, especially during a dominant second half. Several chances were created but left unconverted, a testament to their performance across the field.

On the defensive end, goalkeeper Hrisha Badheka exhibited extraordinary skill, particularly halfway through the second half when Jamnabai Narsee mounted an exciting attacking play. Badheka’s swift reflexes and stellar outstretched save ensured that Jamnabai Narsee was denied the equalizer, a moment that could have significantly altered the game’s complexion.

Coach Eudes Kinny of Nita Mukesh Ambani Junior School beamed with pride as he reflected on his team’s achievements throughout the tournament. “This team has combined well throughout the tournament,” Kinny remarked.

. “In the final, it was close but we clearly had the better opportunities and should have scored more. Our goalkeeper Hrisha has been consistent throughout and played very well today too.”

On the opposite side, Brendon Santos, the coach of Jamnabai Narsee, expressed his concerns about his team’s play that day. “We should have made better use of the flanks and had more width in our play. Despite having possession, we were not able to create more chances and that was disappointing,” Santos admitted, pointing out where he believed his team fell short.

This victory means that both Nita Mukesh Ambani Junior School and Jamnabai Narsee International School have earned the right to compete in the first division next season. This achievement speaks volumes of their capabilities and potential, as they will be facing tougher competition.

On another note, the tournament also included a third-place play-off match, wherein Christ Church School (Byculla) clinched a 3-1 victory over Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan School (Malad). This match was highlighted by Misbah Khan’s commendable performance as the captain of the Byculla team. Khan managed to score an impressive hat-trick, leading her team to secure the third position. The Malad school managed a consolation goal through the efforts of Ishanvi Kenkare.

The tournament, as a whole, was a resounding success, bringing young talents into the spotlight and providing them with a platform to showcase their skills and sportsmanship. With the future of these young players looking bright, the anticipation for the next season is already building among fans and participants alike. The next level of competition in the first division promises to be even more thrilling as these promising athletes continue to develop and hone their craft.
